A abordagem apóia-se na teoria da segregação urbana, reflete e conceitua o termo por meio da contribuição literária pertinente. Também se enfatiza a influência das rendas fundiárias para a produção do espaço urbano relacionando a base conceitual à realidade implantada em Palmas. A partir daí, procura-se evidenciar a forma como a moradia inseriu-se nesse processo enfatizando o segmento de baixa renda, cuja principal forma de provisão é a ação do poder público. Parte-se do pressuposto de que a segregação em Palmas foi intencional e utilizou a moradia como elemento de espoliação urbana, reproduzindo o processo de urbanização brasileiro. Nesse sentido, verifica-se a criação de uma cidade fragmentada, construída sob a influência das rendas fundiárias, onde a segregação social determina a dinâmica de produção da periferia urbana, cuja base de ocupação está na oferta de moradia de baixa renda através dos programas oficiais do poder público . _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This research presents an empirical analysis on the space segregation in Palmas Tocantins under the optics of the habitational production considering the relation between housing and the process of territorial order of that city. The comprehensive approach is supported in the theory of the urban segregation, reflects and appraises the term by means of the pertinent literary contribution. It is also emphasized the influence of the agrarian incomes for the production of the urban space relating the conceptual base to the reality implanted in Palmas. From then on, it is necessary to evidence the form as housing inserted in this process, emphasizing the low income segment, which main form of provision is the action of the public authority. It is believed that the segregation in Palmas was intentional and used the housing as element of urban spoliation, reproducing the brazilian process of urbanization. Therefore, it is verified the creation of a fragmented city, constructed under the influence of the agrarian incomes, where the social segregation determines the dynamics of the urban fringe production, which base of occupation is in offers of low income housing through the official programs of the public authority .
