České literární ceny 21. století / Czech Literary Prizes in 21th Century

SLÁDKOVÁ, Lenka January 2014 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with czech literary prizes in 21th century. It creates typology of present literary awards in the Czech republic. It deals with State national award for literature, Award of Jaroslav Seifert and Magnesia Litera in detail. For these three prizes it lists their characteristics, history, the winners, the jury and the voting system. Medial reflection of the particular year is presented for each induvidual award for the period 2000-2013. The diploma thesis deals with the trends and phenomenons of these three selected awards. These trends and specific phenomenons are compared each other at the end.

Jaroslav Seifert a jeho vztah k výtvarnému umění / Jaroslav Seifert and his relationship to the visual arts

Hájková Paterová, Natálie January 2019 (has links)
This thesis is concerned with Jaroslav Seifert's relationship to visual arts and artists, for it is apparent in both his writings and his biography that this relationship was not only deep, but it also served as a powerful source of inspiration for his work. This study focuses on the works of Jan Zrzavý, Toyen and Josef Sudek, since Seifert considered them extraordinary and maintained a lifelong friendship with them. However, I also consider other artists and works that Jaroslav Seifert related to in his writings. The selected topics are followed throughout the poet's life and work, and also set in the context of the given time period and shared culture. This study brings answers to the question of the nature of Seifert's relationship to visual arts and how it is reflected in his writing, and also aims to describe the way the dialogue between Seifert's texts and arts is developed based on comparison of specific visual and literary imagination. Key words: Jaroslav Seifert, Jan Zrzavý, Toyen, Josef Sudek, friendship, dialogue, visual arts, fine arts, photography, poetry, journalism, All the Beauties of the World, imagination, Devětsil, Czech culture of the 20th century.

Alexandr Blok v českých překladech. Překlad poémy Dvanáct / Czech Translations of Alexander Blok's Poem The Twelve

Oganesjanová, Lena January 2014 (has links)
The detailed comparative analysis of four Czech translations of Alexander Blok's poem The twelve is at the crux of this diploma thesis. Concurrently, it sets the assessment of translation mastery of each translation based on criteria of poetry translation as defined by the signifiant Czech theorecian Jiří Levý. Aesthetic interpretaton of the poem and the description of distinctive features of Block's poetry precede the main part of the thesis. The author comes to a conclusion only two of the translations can be called acceptable to present-day readers (Vojtěch Jestřáb's and Václav Daněk's translations). Nevertheless, the translation by Bohumil Mathesius has a certain aesthetic quality, and if it is looked at from a historical perspective it can be appraised as succeful translation work. The very first translation by young Czech poet Jaroslav Seifert satisfies current poetry translation criteria the least. But there is also an another reason for it: both the Seifert's and Mathesius's translations are greatly influenced by the former language standard (the language obsolescence manifests itself at differet levels). Yet, the latest translations differ too. Jestřáb's method focuses upon stressing exotisicm in his translation, whereas Daněk concentrates on naturalisation. Considering the fact that both...

Vliv literárních cen na mediální obraz oceněných knih (2012) / Impact of literary prizes awarded to the media image of books

Linhart, Jiří January 2016 (has links)
This diploma thesis researches the impact of a literary prize on the media image of the awarded book in 2012. More precisely I pursue these awards and winning titles: Jaroslav Seifert Prize (Vladimír Binar: Číňanova pěna), Jiří Orten Award (Vratislav Maňák: Šaty z igelitu), Josef Škvorecký Award (Kateřina Tučková: Žítkovské bohyně), Magnesia Litera - The Book of the Year (Michal Ajvaz: Lucemburská zahrada). First I analyse the change of the quantity (the number of references and the share within the text), then I focus on the modification of the journalistic assessment of the title (on the scale positive - neutral - negative). In first case I use a quantitative analysis of media content, in the second case I use a comparative semiotic analysis. My sample are these Czech periodicals, in alphabetical order: A2, Aktuálně.cz, Hospodářské noviny, Host, iDnes.cz, Lidové noviny, Literární noviny, Reflex, Respekt, Tvar. The main output is a discovery, how the Czech print and online written media reflect the results of the literary prizes, also I (try to) determine the media power of each award.

Relative Symplectic Caps, Fibered Knots And 4-Genus

Kulkarni, Dheeraj 07 1900 (has links) (PDF)
The 4-genus of a knot in S3 is an important measure of complexity, related to the unknotting number. A fundamental result used to study the 4-genus and related invariants of homology classes is the Thom conjecture, proved by Kronheimer-Mrowka, and its symplectic extension due to Ozsv´ath-Szab´o, which say that closed symplectic surfaces minimize genus. In this thesis, we prove a relative version of the symplectic capping theorem. More precisely, suppose (X, ω) is a symplectic 4-manifold with contact type bounday ∂X and Σ is a symplectic surface in X such that ∂Σ is a transverse knot in ∂X. We show that there is a closed symplectic 4-manifold Y with a closed symplectic submanifold S such that the pair (X, Σ) embeds symplectically into (Y, S). This gives a proof of the relative version of Symplectic Thom Conjecture. We use this to study 4-genus of fibered knots in S3 . We also prove a relative version of the sufficiency part of Giroux’s criterion for Stein fillability, namely, we show that a fibered knot whose mondoromy is a product of positive Dehn twists bounds a symplectic surface in a Stein filling. We use this to study 4-genus of fibered knots in S3 . Using this result, we give a criterion for quasipostive fibered knots to be strongly quasipositive. Symplectic convexity disc bundles is a useful tool in constructing symplectic fillings of contact manifolds. We show the symplectic convexity of the unit disc bundle in a Hermitian holomorphic line bundle over a Riemann surface.
