Development of Simulation Tool and New Tracking Algorithms for Radio Occultation Receivers / Utveckling av Simuleringsverktyg och Nya Trackingalgoritmer för Radio-Ockultations-mottagare

Rönnberg Sjödin, Oskar, Ahlsin, David January 2011 (has links)
When a radio signal traverses the atmosphere it will be delayed by not only thedistance between transmitter and receiver, but also the atmosphere. Given knowl-edge of the characteristics of the sent signal the effect of the atmosphere can beobtained from the received signal. This concept is called radio occultation. Radiooccultation can provide high accuracy profiles of temperature, pressure and watervapour troughout the atmosphere. This report aims to present the work and results from a thesis performed atRUAG Space in Göteborg. The purpose of the thesis was to implement a simulatorwhich with high accuracy could generate a signal as it would have been receivedhad it propagated through the atmosphere. We will show that the generated signal passes the requirements that have beenset.

Article: Reducing the electricity cost of a three-pipe water pumping system : a case study using software / White Rautenbach

Rautenbach, John White January 2004 (has links)
Efficient control is often the most cost-effective option to improve on the running cost of a Three-Pipe Water Pumping System. However, the effect of changing the control strategy (i.e. on energy consumption) is usually difficult to predict. To obtain this information more easily, a new simulation tool, QUICKcontrol, was developed. This new tool was used to investigate the energy cost savings potential in a Three-Pipe Water Pumping System. The influence of pump scheduling, dam level set points, control parameters and different combinations thereof was investigated. The simulation models were firstly verified with measurements obtained from the existing system to confirm their accuracy for realistic control retrofit simulations. With the aid of the integrated simulation tool it was possible to predict savings of R 195'000 per year with an average 3.8 MW of load shifted. / Thesis (M.Ing. (Mechanical Engineering))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2005.

The contribution of an algorithm simulation software in the algorithmic teaching-learning process for novice learners : case of the Libreville ENSET

Ovono, Médard-Sylvain 04 October 2018 (has links)
This thesis has for object to study of the contribution of the introduction of the TICE's in the teaching-learning process of the algorithmics to the novice learners, in particular an application of simulation of algorithmics (AlgoBox). The use of this computational artifact aims at proposing a contribution in order to solvat the problem of the high rate of failure noticed by the administratives and pedagogicals responsibles for several years in the teaching of the algorithmics and programmations at Ecole Normale Supérieure de l'Enseignement Technique (ENSET) of Libreville.Thereby the implementation of an experimental device according to the emitted hypotheses and following upon a first experiment of identification and analysis of certain indicators, has allowed making the study of the contribution of the simulation software of algorithm. At the end of this research, it is therefore note a slight increase in the performances of the learners most probably due not only to the contribution of the artifact, but also to the reactivation of implicit knowledge carried out by the prescribed task. It is thus advisable to foresee to accompany the use of this application by the implementation a new approach so as to allow the construction of an adapted pedagogy (Ginestie, 2008).

Kompiuterinis sudėtinės geometrijos biojutiklių modeliavimas / Computational Modelling of Biosensors of Complex Geometry

Petrauskas, Karolis 01 July 2011 (has links)
Biosensors are analytical devices mainly used to detect analytes and measure their concentrations. Mathematical modeling is widely used for optimizing and analyzing an operation of biosensors for reducing price of development of new biosensors. The object of this research is mathematical and computer models, describing an operation of biosensors, made of several parts with different properties. The dissertation covers models, formulated in one and two-dimensional spaces by partial differential equations with non-linear members, and solved numerically, using the method of finite differences. The numerical models are implemented by a computer program. An original mathematical model for a biosensor with a carbon nanotube electrode is presented in the dissertation. The conditions at which the one-dimensional mathematical model can be used instead of two-dimensional one for accurate prediction of the biosensor response are investigated. Elements, used to build models of biosensors with a complex structure, were systemized. The biosensor description language is proposed and the computer software, simulating an operation of biosensors in the one-dimensional space and a rectangular domain of the two-dimensional space, is developed. An adequateness of the model for the biosensor with the carbon nanotube electrode and the impact of structural and geometrical properties on a response of the biosensor were investigated, performing computer experiments using the developed software.
