A Marijuana Use Prevention Program for Youth| A Grant ProposalHermosilla, Estefania 08 June 2018 (has links)
<p> The purpose of this project was to locate a potential funding source and write a grant to fund the implementation of the Youth Message Development (YMD) program for all sixth and eighth grade students in Santa Ana, California. </p><p> Marijuana is the most commonly used illicit substance in the United States. Research indicates that use of marijuana by adolescents can lead to negative neurological and cognitive consequences. The goals of the proposed program are to delay or deter marijuana use among youth in the Santa Ana Unified School District by increasing their media-literacy and criticalthinking skills when faced with pro-marijuana advertisements and messages. If funded, this program would help youth in Santa Ana increase their knowledge of advertisement techniques and develop essential skills that may protect them from the dangers that early initiation of marijuana can pose. Actual submission of and/or funding of this grant proposal was not required for successful completion of this project. </p><p>

<p> The purpose of this grant project was to obtain funding for a prevention and intervention program that provides services to youth that are at-risk or have been victims of dating violence. The goal of the project is to provide education, resources, prevention and intervention services for these teenagers in hopes of improving their future relationships. Mental Health & Addiction Services for Adolescents (MASA) Youth Services, a project of the California Hispanic Commission on Alcohol & Drug Abuse, Inc. (CHCADA) was selected as the servicing agency for this project. </p><p> An extensive literature review was conducted to examine the need for implementation of a dating violence program. The information gathered and the literature guided the grant writer to develop a grant that will meet the need for the selected population.</p>

Mental Wellness Support and Educational Group for Asian Indians in Orange County| A Grant ProposalHanda, Rachel 08 June 2018 (has links)
<p> The purpose of this thesis was to develop a grant proposal to fund a support group for Asian Indian adults in the Orange County area of California. The goal of this group would be to increase decrease stigma about mental illness through the provision of mutual aid and psychoeducation. The Mental Health Association of Orange County was the host agency for this program. The funding agency selected was Kaiser Permanente Thrive in Orange County. </p><p> Based on the review of the literature, integrating concepts of collectivism, the Hindu religion, and explaining mental illness in the context of medical symptoms are all important components of the development of a culturally sensitive support group for Asian Indians. The program would encourage participants to share their experience with mental illnesses in the context of the Asian Indian culture. </p><p> The actual funding of this grant proposal was not necessary to complete the project.</p><p>
