A Socio-Pedagogical Analysis of Five Short Choral Works by Adolphus HailstorkDungee, Jason A., Dungee, Jason A. January 2016 (has links)
The focus of the present research is to examine the socio-pedagogical aspects of Adolphus Hailstork's Five Short Choral Works. The socio-pedagogical benefits of these and similar compositions stem from their potential to encourage more critical cultural engagement of the choral contributions of Black composers in both the classroom and rehearsal hall. While the music on its own merit is worthy of deeper study and analysis, the added benefit to students, teachers and conductors is that the inclusion of diverse groups in music education has proven sociological benefits. Therefore, these five works have potential benefits in terms of representation, cultural engagement, and holistic consideration of American music. Furthermore, if students are given more diverse expressions of diversity, then there is greater likelihood that they will grow socially to appreciate and understand heterogeneous expressions of culture and be more engaged in culture criticism.

This thesis called 'Socio-Pedagogical Assistance to Partially-Autonomous Patients and to Their Families" (as conducted at GARC Kladno, s.r.o.). aims to map the health and social situation of partially-autonomous patients (hereafter PAP) as a result of a chronic condition, a disability or geriatric conditions in the context of their actual living environment. The theoretical part deals with health and social challenges confronted by PAP focusing on social and individual rehabilitation in conducting daily life. It is divided into five parts. Part One describes health issues faced by PAP with emphasis on particular issues which affect this group. Part Two defines the basic terminology of disability and autonomy.Through work experience it was possible to provide first-hand observation of particular issues which affect this group, e.g. physical disability as a factor limiting autonomy. Both subjective and objective observations of this group can weigh heavily on the value of the outcome. Part Three places PAP in his environment and at the same time evaluates the role of the family members and various services available to PAP under the Social Services Act No. 108/2008 Coll. The diploma thesis is focused on socio-pedagogical means of assistance to the homeless which is provided by social facilities in the Czech Republic in the process of their reintegration. The goal of the thesis is to ascertain, describe and analyse the possibilities of socio-pedagogical assistance to the homeless. The thesis has theoretical-empirical character. In the theoretical part, I concentrate on the topic of homelessness, public housing, system of assistance for the homeless where I mention two approaches of supported living: Housing Ready and Housing First. Other topics include social difficulties and social reintegration of the homeless, social pedagogy and socio-pedagogical means of assistance to the homeless where social rehabilitation, community work and social entrepreneurship belong. The empirical part is devoted to a research. With the usage of semi-structured interviews, this research examines which means of socio-pedagogical assistance to the homeless are used in the process of their social reintegration and how both parties reflect on its usefulness. Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou předčasných sexuálních zkušeností a pohlavním zneužíváním nezletilých dívek. Téma této práce vzniklo s ohledem na profesní zaměření autorky, která pracuje jako sociální pracovnice. Předčasné zahájení pohlavního života a pohlavní zneužití se v poslední době vyskytuje ve stále větší míře, a tím vzniká i potřeba na tuto problematiku reagovat a řešit v rámci působnosti orgánů sociálně právní ochrany dětí. Cílem diplomové práce je popis dopadů předčasných sexuálních zkušeností a pohlavního zneužití na osobnost nezletilých dívek. Diplomová práce se také zabývá úlohou rodiny, školy a orgánů sociálně právní ochrany dětí v sexuální výchově. Dále také srovnává společné aspekty rodinného prostředí nezletilých dívek a vyhledává společné faktory, které působí v rodinách nezletilých dívek, u kterých došlo k předčasnému zahájení pohlavního života nebo k jejich sexuálnímu zneužití. Výzkumnou metodou této práce jsou především případové studie dvou rodin s nezletilými dívkami, u kterých došlo k předčasnému zahájení pohlavního života. V rámci případových studií byla použita obsahová analýza dokumentů, metoda rozhovoru s nezletilými dívkami a s jejich rodinami. The thesis Cooperation of governmental and non-governmental sector in the care of neglected children has theoretical and research nature and is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The first chapter of the theoretical part focuses on the child neglect in the family. In addition to defining the concept are given the educational implications of child neglect in the family, its risk factors and failure of family in relation to child neglect. The second chapter deals with governmental and non-governmental sector entities, intervening in the area of child neglect. Attention is focused on social work in the department of social and legal protection of children, NGOs working with endangered families and children and socio-educational work with children at risk of neglect in selected schools and school facilities.
