This province is located in the municipal district of Coari in the State of Amazonas, Brazil, and a Petrobras (Petróleo Brasileiro S.A.) area of oil and gas production, in which the discovery of oil brought about the need to improve the local pavement, in view of its deficient mechanical resistance, due to the shortage of granular material in the region. The behavior of the typical Urucu region silt soil mixed to 0%, 1%, 2%, 5% and 8% Cationic Slow Setting asphalt emulsion (CSS-1) and a 0h and 1h aeration time and a 0-day and 7-day outdoor dry curing period was studied herewith. Natural soil and emulsion mixtures were analyzed through the following tests: compaction, California Bearing Ration, Resistance to Compression and Triaxial Strength of repeated loads. The results relative to soil-emulsion mixtures showed (a) the contribution as to the gain in resistance (RCS), after seven curing days, (b) the excellent behavior via-à-vis the deformation exhibited under the RCS test, and (c) the best performance indicative of the values of the resilience module test (MR) for samples without aeration, when confronted with natural soil.
