Availability, Density, Variety, and Distribution of Street Food Stands and Street Foods Across a Mexican City: An Assessment Using the Street Food Stand Assessment Tool

January 2020 (has links)
abstract: Background. Street food stands (SFS) are common ways in which people in Mexico access food, having been a part of the environment and culture of Mexican food for generations. However, no studies have used a validated assessment tool to reliably measure food and beverage availability at a variety of SFS. Nor have the availability, density, variety, and distribution of SFS and street foods and beverages been assessed across neighborhood income levels. Objective: This dissertation’s goal was to decrease gaps in knowledge about the role SFS may play in food availability in the Mexican food environment. Methods: Survey design and ethnographic field methods were used to develop, test, and validate the Street Food Stand Assessment Tool (SFSAT). Geographic information system and ground-truthing methods were used to identify a sample of street segments across 20 neighborhoods representing low-, middle- and high-income neighborhoods in Mexico City on which to assess the availability, density, variety, and distribution of SFS and the foods and beverages sold at these food venues using the SFSAT. Results: A sample of 391 SFS were assessed across 791 street segments. Results showed that SFS were found in all neighborhoods. Contrary to the initial hypothesis, most SFS were found in middle-income neighborhoods. While the availability of street foods and beverages was higher in middle-income neighborhoods, the variety was less consistent: fruit/vegetable variety was high in high-income neighborhoods whereas processed snack variety was higher in low-income neighborhoods. SFS were most often distributed near homes, transportation centers, and worksites across the three neighborhood income levels. Conclusion: This study bridged the gap in knowledge about the availability, density, variety, and distribution of SFS and products sold at these sources of food by using an assessment tool that was developed, tested, and validated specifically for SFS. The findings showed that SFS were found across all neighborhoods. Furthermore, results also suggested that SFS can be a source of healthy food items. Additional studies are needed to understand the relationship between SFS availability, food consumption, and health outcomes in the Mexican population. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Anthropology 2020

Kostka, Marek January 2017 (has links)
This Master’s thesis deals with measuring of acting forces from rider to footbike during the ride, followed by the construction of test stand to draw an equivalent load. Measurements and subsequent analysis of acting forces from the rider to the footbike were made. These results were then used for complete design of the test stand. The frame of the test stand was subdued to a stress analysis. A complete automatic control system, including a pneumatic control circuit, was also designed. The proposed automatic test stand was then manufactured and put into operation.

Begreppsvaliditet för 30 sekunder Chair Stand Test hos patienter med akut stroke / Construct Validity for the 30-Second Chair Stand Test in Patients with Acute Stroke

Murtola, Sebastian January 2021 (has links)

Trädstruktur i sandtallskogar i Norrbotten : Förekomst av ett urval av mykorrhizasvampar / Stand structure of sandy pine forests in Norrbotten county, Sweden : Occurrences of a selection of mycorrhiza fungi

Lindbäck, Linda January 2020 (has links)
The aim with this study was to investigate factors that affect the occurrence of mycorrhizal fungi species of nature conservation concern in sand pine forests in Norrbotten County in Sweden. In 2019, the occurrence of fruit-bodies of the species in focus was inventoried in 21 forest stands in three different areas located in three municipalities on land that SCA Skog owns and manages in Norrbotten County. The fungi included in study had been noted in the studied areas in previous inventories between the years 2013–2016, which makes it possible to compare variation in fruit body production between years. Specifically, the study tested whether mean age and diameter of trees, and base area and size of forest stands affect the occurrence of fruit bodies of the studied mycorrhiza species in the forest stands. A multiple regression analysis found a positive significant relationship between the number of species that occurred and the size and base area in the forest stands, while there was no effect of mean age and mean diameter of the trees. This indicates that it is important to consider the size and base area of forest stands to maintain mycorrhizal fungi when planning management in dry sandy pine forests. However, because fruit body production is highly variable among years further research is required to get a better understanding of how tree structure affect mycorrhizal fungi.

Posturální stabilita u osob s krátkozrakostí / Postural stability of near-sighted people

Palivcová, Lenka January 2016 (has links)
Title: Postural stability of near-sighted people Objectives: To analyse relationships between selected parameters of postural stability and impaired visual acuity (myopia), which is revised by optimal visual correction, by diffusing glasses or by contact lenses. Methods: Investigations of stabilizing capabilities of erected posture in its various modifications. An objective measuring was performed by stabilometric platform type Footscan. The experiment involved twelve people with myopia of -3 to -6D visual acuity of an average age of 23 ± 4 years. Myopat group of bipedal standing position were tested with open eyes with vision correction, afterwards with eyes closed, then without any vision correction. The last measured positions were performed on one lower limb with visual correction and then without it. Total number of measured positions were ten upright positions, each of which was measured with 30 second interval. Results: A total travelled way of centre of pressure was determined as a parameter of postural stability evaluating. Positions on one lower limb clearly put the highest demands for stabilizing upright positions. The only aggravation of conditions stabilizing this position should be to eliminate vision correction, which was confirmed in 8 probands from a total of 12. Under a bipedal...
