Posouzení a rekonstrukce nosné ocelové konstrukce kotle / Assessment and reconstruction of load carrying steel structure of the boiler

Krátká, Markéta January 2019 (has links)
The diploma thesis is focused on the assessment and verification dimensions of the existing supporting steel structure for the K5 boiler in the locality of Olomouc. The ground dimensions of the existing main supporting structure are 24.4 x 12.2 m. The clear construction height is approx. 44 m. The main supporting columns are made of welded box cross sections. The spacing of the individual cross-links is 7.6-8.9 m. The structural stiffness of the structure is secured by transverse and longitudinal bracing. Stainless steel S235 and S355 are used as the main material of the supporting elements. The design has been assessed according to valid EN ISO standards. Part of the thesis is a technical report, a static calculation containing the assessment of the main structural elements of the structure and joints and the drawing documentation.

Investigating dynamic assessment as a means of addressing the assessment dilemma of additional language learners

Omidire, Margaret Funke 01 May 2010 (has links)
Using static forms of assessment with learners who have an additional language (AL) as the language of learning and assessment (LoLTA), especially those that have been identified and labelled low achievers, could do more harm than good. Many people neglect to take account of the complexity involved in learning a second language and often wonder why learners who have an AL as the LoLTA take so long to acquire it at the level of cognitive academic language proficiency. This study investigated the use of dynamic assessment (DA) as a method of assessing learners who have an AL as the LoLTA in mainstream education, focusing on Lagos, Nigeria, in the empirical research. The study looked at ways in which DA could contribute to a solution for the assessment of AL learners, specifically how DA influenced the assessment and performance of AL learners. The study, in addition, sought to establish how static assessment and DA affect the attitude of AL learners towards assessment and their own performance. Finally, the study explored avenues through which DA could be used without it becoming an undue advantage for AL learners. The research was a qualitative study within the interpretive paradigm that sought to understand the subjective experiences of AL learners with assessment. Within a multiple case study, it resembled action research. Eight participants from two schools in UBE 8 (Grade 8) took part in the study, which involved observation of the participants during continuous assessment (CA) cycles, with debriefing and language-related mediation of assessment skills thereafter, in the subjects Business Studies (BS) and Integrated Science (IS). The data collection covered four phases: three CA cycles and the examination of the first school term. Subsequent to Phase I, mediational assessment papers, a glossary and spelling list were used. The findings suggest that DA had a positive influence on the AL participants’ performance and affect during assessment, although to varying degrees. Individual learning potential and context appeared to play a crucial part. Once the participants’ individual challenges were apparent, mediation could be directed at providing appropriate strategies to bridge the gaps. Due to the severity of the AL challenge, some participants seemed to require focused learning support in the AL, as well as mediated assessment sustained over a longer period. DA seemed to effectively provide guidance and feedback to the participants and improved their attitude towards assessment as well as the emotions experienced during assessment. / Thesis (PhD)--University of Pretoria, 2009. / Educational Psychology / unrestricted

Průzkum a hodnocení stavu stavební konstrukce / Survey and evaluation of building constructions

Balas, Ondřej January 2015 (has links)
This thesis is focused on the description and evaluation of the status of existing reinforced concrete and of the prefabricated overhanging structures. The first part describes the solution overhanging structures, followed by a description of selected diagnostic methods for determining the properties of concrete in the structure and to determine the degree and extent concrete reinforcement. The main objective is to determine the status of overhanging structures on the case static analysis and critical points of the support structure for the purpose of the planned revitalization of the object.

Málek, Jaroslav January 2012 (has links)
This master thesis deals with static load test and static assessment of selected segments of reinforced concrete ceiling construction of the Hennebique system at the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University in Brno. This thesis contains: the execution of the static load test, the data evaluation of the static load test and the data evaluation of the complementary laboratory testing, geometric orientation of bearing elements, the checking of the ceiling placement in the peripheral position, and the diagnosis of the reinforcing of the construction. This thesis also includes the static assessment according to various standard norm rules and the numerical analysis in ATENA software program.

Analýza působení termoplastových potrubí v zemním prostředí / Analysis of Thermoplastic Pipes in a Soil Environment

Ekr, Jan January 2019 (has links)
The doctoral thesis deals with an analysis of thermoplastics pipes in a soil environment, in particularly, pipes performed by using trenchless technologies. In the doctoral thesis, experiments of polyethylene pipes loaded by external hydrostatic pressure were performed. The aim of the experiments was to determine a behaviour and load-bearing capacity of the polyethylene pipes loaded by external hydrostatic pressure. For the experiments, a steel pressure chamber was designed and produced which allowed loading and observing a pipe during its loss of the stability. Mechanical properties of the pipe material were determined based on the tensile and bending tests. The series of detailed numerical analyses of the pipe experiments were performed. Various material models which take into account elastic, plastic and viscous behaviour of thermoplastic materials were used. In addition, series of standardized calculations of polyethylene pipes installed using trenchless technologies were performed. The aim was to create new design diagrams for practical assessment of these pipes placed in the partially deteriorated old pipes. In the case of the deteriorated old pipe, a numerical model for determination of design coefficients was created. These design coefficients were verified with standard values. Then, the results of the numerical model were compared with the results of the more complex numerical model which better take into account pipe-soil interaction of various soil types.

Návrh silničního ocelobetonového komorového mostu na obchvatu Bludova / Design of steel-concrete composite structure of road box girder bridge on by-road of Bludov

Kuba, Michal January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this work is design and assessment of the box-girder road bridge on by-road of Bludov. Bridge is designed as composite steel concrete bridge with 5 spans with distances between supports of 31,25 m; 40,0 m; 60,0 m; 60,0 m and 40,35 m. Main bearing structure is designed as open steel box-girder with reinforced concrete deck. Box girder is braced with longitudinal and transversal bracings. Main structure is separated for each traffic direction. The bridge crosses river Morava and railway in 2nd and 3rd span, respectively. The category of road I/44 is S 21,5/100. The height of steel box girder is designed as 2,5 m. Bridge will be built by incremental launching method, with in-situ casted concrete deck afterwards. The bridge is designed according to current standards. Supporting elements are designed from steel of class S 355 and concrete of class C35/45.
