A importância do processo de alinhamento da estratégia com projetos seis sigma: um estudo multicasos em operadores logísticos / The importance of the process of alignment the strategy with six sigma projects: a study multicases in logistic operators

Gonçalves, Bianca Soares de Oliveira 20 April 2007 (has links)
Beyond the fact of the six sigma program and the logistic, that are on evidence in the organizational environment, adds to them the importance of getting success in the implantation of the program, characterizing as a critical factor to the strategical alignment of the improvement projects. Being thus, an analysis of the process of strategical alignment of six sigma projects is justified. Approaching this question, this dissertation proposes a systematization of the alignment of the organizational strategy with the process of six sigma projects` selection. This research is structuralized, first, with a bibliographical revision on six sigma, logistic strategy and operators. With the theoretical basement was proposed a systematization of strategical alignment of the selection process of six sigma projects, detailed step by step. With the objective of analyzing the proposal conceptual, three cases\' studies in logistic operators were done. The importance of the process of six sigma projects\' selection can be noticed and its alignment with the organizational strategy, as well as the validation of the systematization proposal.

Strategic alignment or non-alignment : the management of human capital in Dubai

Anthonisz, Angela Jean January 2018 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the international hotel industry as part of the global economy and examines the implications that the strategic management of human capital has within the five-star sector of the hotel industry in Dubai, an emirate of the United Arab Emirates, and an economy based on the service sector. It examines the macro environmental factors influencing the potential strategic directions of two recognized international five-star hotel brands and considers the challenges this creates for the alignment of strategy, and the implications this has for management of human capital(people) as a key determinant of success that enhances organisational outcomes. In selecting this area of research, the author has adopted a grounded theory approach to the generation of new knowledge, allowing the literature to be guided by concerns raised by hotel managers and industry consultants working in the context of Dubai. This approach led to the employment of a case study method, through which the key influences of organisational culture and ownership are considered. Two international hotel chains were identified to represent the two strategic modes of entry into the destination. The first case being a locally owned and managed chain with 7 hotels in Dubai. The second case is a European chain operating 6 hotel properties under management contract in Dubai, with 6 different owners from the Middle East. Both companies operate within the luxury five-star market that is so prevalent in Dubai. The hospitality industry, by definition, relies heavily on human capital, both as a resource and a capability that may allow for the development of competitive advantage. However, the dynamics of the Dubai hotel environment, the strength of the Arab cultural values and the organisational conditions that exist in Dubai present HR managers with a number of unique challenges, including high levels of pastoral care, and approaches to managing the workforce that may be at odds with traditional ‘Western’ ideals. This thesis adds to the existing debate on the value and utilisation of existing theoretical frameworks attached to the alignment of strategy and the implications for managing human capital in the face of globalisation and presents a model of their application in a city that is characterised by power and control, predictability and change aversion.

Managing Security Objectives for Effective Organizational Performance Information Security Management

Gutta, Ramamohan 01 January 2019 (has links)
Information is a significant asset to organizations, and a data breach from a cyberattack harms reputations and may result in a massive financial loss. Many senior managers lack the competencies to implement an enterprise risk management system and align organizational resources such as people, processes, and technology to prevent cyberattacks on enterprise assets. The purpose of this Delphi study was to explore how the managerial competencies for information security and risk management senior managers help in managing security objectives and practices to mitigate security risks. The National Institute of Standards and Technology framework served as the foundation for this study. The sample was made up of 12 information security practitioners, information security experts, and managers responsible for the enterprise information security management. Participants were from Fortune 500 companies in the United States. Selection was based on their level of experience and knowledge of the topic being studied. Data were collected using a 3 round Delphi study of 12 experts in information security and risk management. Statistical analysis was performed on the collected data during a 3 round Delphi study. The mean, standard deviation, majority agreement, and ranges were used to determine the final concensus for this research study. Findings of this study included the need for managerial support, risk management strategies, and developling the managerial and technical talent to mitigate and respond to cyberattacks. Findings may result in a positive social change by providing information that helps managers to reduce the number of data breaches from cyberattacks, which benefits companies, employees, and customers.
