Estimation and the Stress-Strength Model

Brownstein, Naomi 01 January 2007 (has links)
The paper considers statistical inference for R = P(X < Y) in the case when both X and Y have generalized gamma distributions. The maximum likelihood estimators for R are developed in the case when either all three parameters of the generalized gamma distributions are unknown or when the shape parameters are known. In addition, objective Bayes estimators based on non informative priors are constructed when the shape parameters are known. Finally, the uniform minimum variance unbiased estimators (UMVUE) are derived in the case when only the scale parameters are unknown.

Inference about Reliability Parameter with Underlying Gamma and Exponential Distribution

Wang, Zeyi 30 September 2011 (has links)
The statistical inference about the reliability parameter R involving independent gamma stress and exponential strength is considered. Assuming the shape parameter of gamma is a known arbitrary real number and the scale parameters of gamma and exponential are unknown, the UMVUE and MLE of R are obtained. A pivot is proposed. Some inference about R derived from this pivot is presented. It will be shown that the pivot can be used for testing hypothesis and constructing condence interval. A procedure of constructing the condence interval for R is derived. The performances of the UMVUE and MLE are compared numerically based on extensive Monte Carlo simulation. Simulation studies indicate that the performance of the two estimators is about the same. The MLE is preferred because of the simplicity of its computation.

Diagnostika mostu poškozeného požárem / Diagnosis of the fire damaged bridge

Olejková, Sabina January 2019 (has links)
This thesis is about assessment of a bridge construction influenced by fire accident. The bridge is situated at the highway D46 beyond the town Držovice. Within this construction research, there will be mentioned diagnostic methods – A non- destructive method (Ultrasonic pulse method and hardness tests) and destructive methods (borehole and tear off tests). For find out in which way was the concrete of the bridge damaged and hurt while facing a high temperature of fire, there were taken samples, which were analyzed by physical and chemical test. We can analyze composition and microstructure of the concrete. The result of this tests will be evaluated, and the actions of a remediation will be suggested.

Kondenzační parní turbina s přihříváním / Condensing Steam Turbine with superheating

Urbánek, Martin January 2014 (has links)
The thesis is focused on designing of condensing steam turbine with reheating for combustion of biomass. The turbine is developed to be tandem compound-regenerative with five uncontrolled extraction points. Optimization of reheating pressure is made in the turbine's cycle. The turbine outlet is constructed to lead down to the water cooled condenser. Thesis includes the calculation of heat cycle with the draft of flow channel of high pressure and middle-low pressure turbine. Detailed calculation of middle-low pressure turbine, including stress-strength analysis, is performed. The thesis provides an evaluation of flow scheme of 100 % and 75 % of generator’s power output and the drawing of middle-low pressure turbine in longitudinal section.
