O objetivo principal será o de mostrar que a conduta da morte voluntária não implica, per se e de maneira cogente, nenhuma imoralidade. Para se chegar a essa conclusão, elaborou-se, na primeira parte desta obra, uma crítica dos principais sistemas éticos que se debruçaram sobre o tema do suicídio, com maior ou menor profundidade, no decorrer da história da filosofia ocidental. A partir do estudo diacrônico da questão autotanática chega-se às reflexões críticas tecidas pelo filósofo Julio Cabrera, no contexto da ética negativa por ele elaborada. Com efeito, a ética negativa parte, de início, duma crítica radical a todos os sistemas éticos que lhe antecederam, a fim de mostrar que nenhuma ética é capaz de ser colocada plenamente em prática, de acordo com os preceitos por elas mesmas postulados. Toda a segunda parte da dissertação, portanto, será dedicada à análise aprofundada dos elementos que compõe as reflexões da ética negativa (tais como o desvalor da vida humana, a crítica ao modelo moral afirmativo, o problema da inabilitação moral, o antinatalismo etc.), com ênfase nos problemas concernentes ao suicídio. Na terceira e última parte, serão apontadas questões problemáticas sobre o suicídio, no contexto da ciências médicas e também da ciência jurídica. Em seguida, propõe-se uma nova e abrangente taxonomia suicidógena, baseada em categorias tomadas de empréstimo da criminologia. Por meio de tais categorias, várias condutas que não são comumente catalogadas sob a rubrica do suicídio acabarão por ser incorporadas a ele. Por fim, delineado o amplo espectro de mortes voluntárias, apresentam-se os argumentos favoráveis a um tipo específico de autoaniquilamento, cujas características peculiares farão dele uma espécie de suicídio que se pode chamar de meritório. ______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The present dissertation brings forward three intertwined objectives, which are divided into three parts. Its main objective is to show that the conduct of voluntary death does not necessarily lead per se to an immorality. In order to reach such conclusion, a critique of the major ethical systems is presented in the first part of this work, inasmuch as these systems have focused on the topic of suicide with greater or lesser depth, throughout the history of Western philosophy. Thereon, the diachronic study of the matter from an autothanatic perspective allows for a presentation of the critical reflections produced by the philosopher Julio Cabrera, in the context of the idea of negative ethics drawn up by him. Indeed, negative ethics begins by a radical critique of all preceding ethical systems so as to show that no ethics can be fully put into practice if one were to be in accordance with all the precepts each system postulates. The whole second part of the dissertation, therefore, will be directed to a detailed examination of the elements that make up the negative reflections of ethics (such as the worthlessness of human life, the critique of the affirmative moral model, the problem of moral disqualification, antinatalism etc.) withan emphasis on issues pertaining to suicide. In the third and final part, some problematic issues about suicide in the context of medical sciences and also of legal science will be pointed out. Thereafter, we propose a new comprehensive taxonomy of suicide based on categories borrowed from criminology. Through these categories, several behaviors which are not commonly classified as being suicide will eventually be considered as such. Finally, once the broad spectrum of voluntary death is outlined, some arguments in favor of a specific type of self-annihilation can be brought forward, whose unique characteristics make it a kind of suicide that can be called meritorious.
