  • The Global ETD Search service is a free service for researchers to find electronic theses and dissertations. This service is provided by the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations.
Our metadata is collected from universities around the world. If you manage a university/consortium/country archive and want to be added, details can be found on the NDLTD website.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Waldirene Bezerra Barcos Morrill.pdf: 1264646 bytes, checksum: 76141c99be6acc02c4dd026002184893 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-07-31 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / This study was conducted aiming to analyze quantitative and qualitative aspects of the effects of monochromatic and polychromatic illumination by LED light at different wavelengths, blue (470 nm), green (525 nm), red (660 nm) , white (400-760 nm) and blue and green (470-525 nm) on the performance and behavior of broilers during the production cycle (42 days). 720 Cobb 500 day-old chicks of a commercial hatchery, divided into two lots (360 males and 360 females) were acquired. The birds were distributed in production pens (18 birds per pen-1) according to the lighting and sexing system (only males or females in each pen) with four replications each, four pens for each lighting system proposed: T1 - blue and green (470 nm, 525 nm); T2 - green (525 nm); T3 - blue (470 nm); T4 - red (660 nm) and T5 - white (400-760 nm). Animal productivity indicators such as weight gain (WG), feed conversion (FC), feed intake (FI), and body weight (BW) were obtained from the relationship between feed intake and body weight. Behavioral analyzes were performed based on the ethogram determining the frequency and percentage of the observation time of each behavior in their respective illumination systems. Data analysis was adopted completely randomized in a 5x2 factorial design. The experimental treatments consisted of different combinations of factors, lighting and sex. The inferences obtained were evaluated by the Tukey test at 5% probability. The frequency of behavioral events and their probability of occurrence were analyzed by Chi-square ( ²) test. Birds subjected to wavelengths in the range of green, blue and green/blue showed the best productivity, and their behavioral responses converge to the same recommendation, with an emphasis on meeting the latest demands made by the standards of animal welfare.
