Cooperação com fornecedor no desenvolvimento de calçados no Rio Grande do Sul

Fettermann, Diego de Castro January 2008 (has links)
This work evaluates the relation between buyer and supplier during the product development process (PDP) in three companies of the shoe sector in Rio Grande do Sul. The main objective is to identify a possible integration and improvement opportunities in this relationship. The results indicate a viability for the cooperation between both parties to improve the PDP. A more intense relation with the supplier is verified when the manufacturer focuses on technological development and product performance improvement, as it is the case of the company of children footwear. This relation tends to diminish when the PDP follows fashion trends, as it is the case of woman footwear. The study identifies chances of cooperation between buyers and suppliers during the PDP as well as alternative projects to further develop the studied companies’ relation with their suppliers.

Guidelines for Developing Flexible Supply Chains in a Stochastic Environment

Jannat, Seratun 15 August 2014 (has links)
To effectively analyze and design a flexible supply chain (FSC), a variety of variables need to be considered. This research presents a framework, an extension of Chan et al. (2009) that identifies a more extensive yet salient set of variables for designing FSCs. This framework provides a basis for using simulation to better understand, and to better design, FSCs. Conceptual simulation models are developed to represent general flexible supply chains in terms of using design and system variables. The proposed conceptual model incorporates many elements from the framework considering a wide variety of variables to demonstrate the approach for building a FSC model. This research provides a general FSC simulation model, built in FlexSim, that implements many variables from the framework and aspects of the conceptual framework. Variability plays an important role in FSC model. Two key supply-chain performance measures are lead time and variability in lead time. One way that has been proposed to improve both measures is to increase supplier flexibility. Through simulation this research provides a means to assess the effects of various manufacturing and logistics flexibility-related variables on lead time and its variability. This research includes effect of several experiments that consider the effect of supplier flexibility level, proportion of process time that is production and transportation time, and level of variability in process time on lead time. The triangular distribution is used often in simulation when process data are not available. Thus, the triangular distribution is used in the FSC simulation model. This research provides a means to effectively consider alternative values of the parameters of the triangular distribution during experimentation. The method facilitates specification of both moment and location parameters.

An Empirical Investigation of Tools and Joint Practices Used in Managing Customer-Supplier Relationships

Jung, Seungho 05 December 1997 (has links)
The purpose of this research was to study customer-supplier relationships, and particularly their partnerships, to help managers and practitioners successfully design, develop, implement and deploy tools and joint practices for their upstream systems. To achieve this purpose, a total of 1,811 (potential mailed survey questionnaire respondents) and 7 (structured interviewees) managers who are responsible for purchasing, sales/ marketing, quality-related, and production- or operations-related functions of U.S. private manufacturing companies in SIC 35, 36, and 37 were used to collect qualitative and quantitative data. Using 172 usable mailed survey questionnaire responses (response rate: 9.78%) and qualitative data from the structured interviews, the following major findings were derived: • Four tools/joint practices most frequently used in customer-supplier relationships were supplier certification/verification, joint problem-solving teams, quality audits, and Just-In-Time production and delivery, • Five tools/joint practices that have been used most effectively were ISO 9000 and/or QS 9000 and/or Baldrige criteria, quality audit, JIT production/delivery, joint planning, and joint problem-solving teams, • Five tools/joint practices that have been most internalized were ISO 9000 and/or QS 9000 and/or Baldrige criteria, quality audit, JIT production/delivery, joint problem-solving teams, and supplier or customer performance measurement systems, • Overall perceived organizational performance improvement was 25% (30% quality improvement, 21% cost reduction, and 26% cycle time reduction). In addition to these findings, eight hypothesized relationships were tested using two independent variables (joint use of specific tools and joint use of practices) and four dependent variables (informed partners, role integrity, conflict resolution, and mutuality). The results showed that customer and supplier companies do not share the same experience with respect to the relationships between the two independent variables and conflict resolution. Using these findings, a set of practices was proposed as a means for further improving specific organizational performance dimensions and providing a mechanism to better share the consequences of joint action. / Ph. Reducing Supplier Lead Time : - A case study on Supplier Lead Time at purchasing companies

Jönsson, Johanna, Luong, Melinda January 2015 (has links)
Title: Reducing Supplier Lead time – a case study on Supplier Lead Time at purchasing companies Authors: Johanna Jönsson and Melinda Luong Tutor: Dr. Åsa Gustavsson Examiner: Dr. Lars-Olof Rask Course code: 4FE06E - Master Thesis _________________________________________________________________________ Research questions: ● How are companies working with and defining Supplier Lead Time? ● What activities are included to reduce Supplier Lead Time? ● How can companies further develop their work to reduce Supplier Lead Time? Purpose: The purpose of this Master Thesis is to describe and explain how purchasing companies are working to reduce Supplier Lead Time, in order to maintain or achieve an efficient and flexible supply chain. Moreover the study aims to recommend what approaches companies could further use to reduce Supplier Lead time. Method: To answer these research questions the authors have done two case studies. The theoretical material has been collected and processed, which has formed the basis for the semi-structured interview guide that was answered by the interviewees. The authors also attended meetings to get other inputs about the subject. Conclusion: IKEA Components are today taking different actions to improve the SLT but can improve their volume agreements (AGV) by aligning all involved parts and have a functional leader that makes sure that they follow it up. At IKEA IMS the authors recommend them to work with volume commitments with suppliers and develop a clearer structure for who is responsible for improving the SLT and evaluating it. Leverantörsrelationer : - i byggbranschen jämfört med ett företag i produktionsbranschen

Ervallius, David, Fjellström, Benjamin January 2007 (has links)

Study objects: JM, Folkhem and ABB.

Purpose: The purpose with this study are to examine how the supplier relations are in the construction branch and compare that result with how the supplier relations are for ABB a production company.

Theoretical: The theoretical chapter illustrates important and relevant parts of supplier relations, purchasing and supplier strategies to give good overview. The theoretical review will combine information from different fields to consent with the research problem.

Method: A case study has been made on three different companies, one of the companies was active in the production industry the other two were active in the construction industry. Data was mainly collected through semi structured interviews on each of the three companies.

Conclusions: The size of the company decided which point of view the company had on purchasing, traditional or modern view. All three companies had a centralized purchasing organization but the construction firms were more decentralized than the production company. The reason was that the construction firms were dependent with more flexibility when every construction project is unique.
