Informationsflöde i organisationer : En fallstudie inom Växjö kommun

Liceson, Zeki January 2010 (has links)

Understanding Supply Chain Integration : A Connectivity and Willingness Perspective

Ekholm, Christer January 2011 (has links)
Information and Communication technology (ICT) supported Supply Chain Management has been acknowledged by the literature to help corporations adapt to challenges posed by an increasingly globalised marketplace. However ICT-managers have in many cases not seen the positive effects expected from the investment in new technologies. This has by some been attributed to the lack of investigation into the supply chain partners’ ability to be integrated with based on the concepts of connectivity and willingness. In this paper I adapt these notions and apply them to empirical data gathered through a case-study of a corporation in the Swedish forestry industry. The aim of the paper is to understand how willingness and connectivity can help explain the level of integration in the existing supply chains in a wide array of customers from local to global. As a result a model is presented that confirms connectivity and willingness as contributing factors for integration with all customers but one moving in the direction of higher forms of ICT-supported collaboration.

Standardisering kontra flexibilitet : En fallstudie av utvecklingsprocesser / Standardization vs. flexibility : A case study on development processes

Östlund, Matilda, Josefsson, Anna January 2011 (has links)
Process standardization is a topic that has generated a lot of research and literature. At first, the focus was on production; today processes are used in all different kind of business areas. The aim of this study has been to analyze how processes can be applied on development businesses and how IT systems affect the result of the process. To accomplish this, we have asked questions such as what standardization is in a development process? Why are the processes standardized? What difficulties can appear with standardization? And how the IT-systems affect the result of the process? To answer these questions, we have preformed a case study on Saab. Saab is a well know Swedish company who are working with a project called the GMS-project, where they develop processes to cover the whole company´s business areas. The literature gives the reader an understanding of processes and standardization. Further on it gives a perspective on how IT and processes should be integrated as well as a perspective on quality in processes. The result of this study shows that Saab focus on standardization of milestones, concepts and language, when designing processes for development. Through this, they want to accomplish better collaboration. The study also shows the difficulties in development processes compared with production. The main differences are that development processes needs to have built in flexibility and room for the employees to take initiatives. This makes it hard to standardize mode of operation, in a development process. For IT to be a support for the development process, it requires an adaptation of both the process and IT systems. On Saab there are different opinions on how the adaption should be organized. This study points out some specific reasons that it is hard to predict it the system or the process should be adapted. Instead, common sense should be used while adapting IT and process.

Mobila tjänster för studenter : En undersökning av mobilapplikationer för studentliv

Nyström, Peter, Lövdahl, Jonas January 2011 (has links)
This study aims to highlight the activities and needs of students in order to explain how mobile services can provide support and facilitate students on a daily basis. The empirical data is based on discussions with a focus group combined with already existing research concerning the areas of mobile service development, contextual-awareness and ubiquitous computing. The results from the focus group show that students have a need for mobile services to help and support them in their ordinary tasks and activities. In the discussion of this report we bring up aspects of development and what to think of when dealing with students.

Framtidens studerandemiljö : En studie om utformning av studerandemiljö på Umeåuniversitetsbibliotek

Sehlin, Robin, Karlsson, Vera January 2011 (has links)
A Large part of the education provided at colleges and universities of today requires for thestudent to be more independent in their studies. This demands that the physical space, where the students choose to study, is designed in a way that can encourage and supportlearning. It seems as though that many of the learning spaces of today don’t always meetthe students’ needs. The university library at the University of Umeå is currently planningto design new learning spaces for the students. The aim of this study is to examine how thephysical learning space can be designed to engage and encourage the students in theirlearning process. Based on literature describing learning spaces we have initially identified three mainareas to examine- Learning, Information Technology and Learning space design. Theseareas are all important features in the design of new learning spaces. With informationdrawn from that literature we conducted an empirical study at the library of the Universityof Umeå. The empirical study was carried out through observations and focus groupinterviews. To give us more insight about the students’ thoughts about the learning spacewe also compared our findings with a survey conducted by the library personnel in 2008and 2010. The result of our study shows that there are some areas to be improved in theexisting learning space. The students are working more collaboratively which requiresmore group areas. Our study also shows that flexibility, more student interaction and asocial and engaging environment are all important features in the design of new learningspaces.
