In this strategic game, tangible and intangible motivations are present to make mergers and acquisitions an instrument of agility for the positioning of the company and providing the fuel for disputes of carriers in the search for new markets. / Este trabalho visa fazer uma análise do setor de telecomunicações no Brasil nos aspectos das estratégias das empresas operadoras e das possibilidades de consolidação no setor tendo em vista a nova dinâmica competitiva que se instaura. Nesse jogo estratégico, motivações tangíveis e intangíveis tornam as fusões e aquisições um instrumento para ganhar agilidade no posicionamento, fazendo com que operadoras em busca de novos mercados disputem as empresas disponíveis para compra e elevem o seu nível de rivalidade.
