Inteligentní teploměr / Inteligent thermometer

This graduation thesis deals with temperature sensors and theirs connection to the microcontroller MCF52233. In the introductory chapters there is description of the principles and characteristics of the heat sensitive elements and theirs abilities of connection to the microcontrollers. Further there is a real proposal and description of the connection realization with sensors DS1620 (intelligent temperature sensor which communicates via serial synchronous link), DS18B20 (intelligent temperature sensor which communicates via 1-Wire bus), LM335 (precise temperature sensor) and KTY81-210 (resistance temperature sensor which is made of silicon). There was a need to create software for the communication between sensors and microcontroller MCF52233. Communication with the superior PC computer was done by USB interface. Software background was created to show temperature readings on the PC computer. Besides the realized USB communication there was done theoretical analysis of the communication via Ethernet bus. On the enclosed CD you can find testing software for the microcontroller and PC computer which allows you to get temperature values from sensors and show them on the screen of the PC computer.

This diploma thesis deals with description and subsequent implementation of web interface and control device for selected periphery devices through the use of processor module RabbitCore RCM3700 which is based on microprocessor Rabbit 3000. The importance of web interface based control is currently raised because of higher customers’ claims. Interactivity of these devices contains wide range of services, from simple event communication by text messages to complex driving systems for home which create the base of intelligent house. The customer can choose either the complete and more expensive solution or self-created one. There are two possible ways of creation. The first way is through the use of personal computer. The second one, more complex but also more effective, is by single-chip microprocessor. In this thesis the second one way is used. The module with processor with build-in web interface was used. Description and the way of control are given for this module and also for selected periphery devices, the LCD and digital temperature sensors. At the end the hardware and software part of control device is designed on the basis of gained information. The thesis contains also its brief description.

A vital condition is to choose appropriate temperature sensor as well as assembling complete measuring set and it’s fastening to the vehicle. Temperature readings from driving tests, after specific brake maneuvers, will be evaluate and according to them a sensor will be determined as appropriate or inappropriate for this kind of tests.

In this work was done the realization of the control unit both from hardware and software aspect. Designed control unit is able to change the output power according to measured temperature. Furthermore is able to control of 2 relays. To set up the desired values and control of relays is used PC software.

The aim of the final thesis is a proposal and implementation of a system which would enable a heating control on the basis of data gathered by monitoring of particular rooms inside a building. In particular, it is focused on water measurement within the heating system, TUV (non-potable hot water) and the temperature within the space of residential rooms. The system headquarters must enable an automated saving of the measured data. Selected temperature figures will be made accessible by a web interface and continuously saved on the web server.

High Temperature Materials Characterization And Sensor Application

This dissertation presents new solutions for turbine engines in need of wireless temperature sensors at temperatures up to 1300oC. Two important goals have been achieved in this dissertation. First, a novel method for precisely characterizing the dielectric properties of high temperature ceramic materials at high temperatures is presented for microwave frequencies. This technique is based on a high-quality (Q)-factor dielectrically-loaded cavity resonator, which allows for accurate characterization of both dielectric constant and loss tangent of the material. The dielectric properties of Silicon Carbonitride (SiCN) and Silicoboron Carbonitride (SiBCN) ceramics, developed at UCF Advanced Materials Processing and Analysis Center (AMPC) are characterized from 25 to 1300oC. It is observed that the dielectric constant and loss tangent of SiCN and SiBCN materials increase monotonously with temperature. This temperature dependency provides the valuable basis for development of wireless passive temperature sensors for high-temperature applications. Second, wireless temperature sensors are designed based on the aforementioned hightemperature ceramic materials. The dielectric constant of high-temperature ceramics increases monotonically with temperature and as a result changes the resonant frequency of the resonator. Therefore, the temperature can be extracted by measuring the change of the resonant frequency of the resonator. In order for the resonator to operate wirelessly, antennas need to be included in the design. Three different types of sensors, corresponding to different antenna configurations, are designed and the prototypes are fabricated and tested. All of the sensors successfully perform at temperatures over 1000oC. These wireless passive sensor designs will significantly benefit turbine engines in need of sensors operating at harsh environments
