Por isso, este estudo teve como objetivo determinar as espessuras e larguras do referido tendão em crianças não desnutridas e não obesas de ambos os gêneros, aos dois, seis, nove e doze meses de idade e definir seus intervalos de normalidade. Fizeram parte da amostra deste estudo prospectivo e descritivo 38 meninos e 31 meninas. As medidas dos tendões foram obtidas por meio de ultra-sonografia, utilizando transdutor linear de 14 MHz, ao nível do maléolo medial. Verificou-se que as espessuras médias dos tendões nos meninos foram 2,4 mm, 2,3 mm, 2,4 mm, e 2,4 mm, aos dois, seis, nove e doze meses, respectivamente. As larguras médias do tendão do calcâneo foram 6,0 mm, 6,4 mm, 6,7 mm e 7,1 mm, respectivamente. Nas meninas, as espessuras médias obtidas aos dois, seis e nove meses foram 2,4 mm. Aos doze meses encontrou-se o valor médio de 2,5 mm. As quatro medidas da largura foram 5,7 mm, 6,2 mm, 6,5 mm e 6,5 mm, respectivamente. Não houve diferença estatisticamente significativa na espessura do tendão do calcâneo ao longo do primeiro ano de vida para ambos os gêneros, porém, houve diferença significativa nas medidas da largura. ______________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / There is a shortage of work on measures of the calcaneal tendon (Achilles tendon) in children under one year of life. Therefore, the purpose of this study was determine thickness and width of the this tendon in non malnourished and non obese children of both genders, at two, six, nine and twelve months of age and define their normality range. Thirty-eight boys and thirty-one girls participated in this prospective and descriptive study. Tendon measures were obtained by ultrasound, with a 14 MHz linear probe, at the level of the medial malleolus. The mean tendon thickness in boys were 2.4 mm, 2.3 mm, 2.4 mm, and 2.4 mm at two, six, nine and twelve months of age, respectively. The mean tendon widths were 6.0 mm, 6.4 mm, 6.7 mm, and 7.1 mm, respectively. For the girls, the mean thickness obtained at two, six and nine months was 2.4 mm. With twelve months the tendon showed up to have a mean of 2.5 mm. The four widths obtained were 5.7 mm, 6.2 mm, 6.5 mm, and 6.5 mm, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference in the thickness of the calcaneal tendon during the first year of life for both genders, however, there were significant differences in width measures.
