No. of bitstreams: 1 Montagner_MiguelAngelo_M.pdf: 2999653 bytes, checksum: d07b00e5d4131f3ad563079565bd6ab2 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2002 / Resumo: O objetivo principal desse trabalho é analisar a utilização do instrumental teórico da praxiologia de Pierre Bourdieu dentro da sociologia médica ou da saúde, principalmente no campo acadêmico francês e, indiretamente, no campo da sociologia médica no Brasil. Após descrevermos a tradição de pensamento social francês, sobretudo aquela relacionada à saúde, e traçarmos as principais linhas relacionadas à medicina social, procuramos situar e mostrar a importância de Pierre Bourdieu dentro dessa tradição, delineando as características principais da sua teoria da prática ou praxiologia. Como instrumento heurístico, selecionamos um conjunto de artigos referentes à sociologia médica ou sociologia da saúde, publicados entre1975 ¿2001 na revista Actes de la recherche en sciences sociales. Assumimos esta revista como veículo de difusão do modo de pensamento relacional de Bourdieu, pois foi lançada no campo francês como expressão do grupo de pesquisadores reunidos em torno daquele autor e afinados com a sua proposta de pesquisa científica, no momento de consagração dessa vanguarda intelectual. Através da metodologia fornecida pelo próprio autor, onde a genealogia dos conceitos de habitus e campo ocupa um lugar central, realizamos uma classificação temática e conceitual dos artigos selecionados, como maneira de apreender a conformação do campo da saúde francês e as mudanças ocorridas no tratamento do objeto saúde naquele período histórico. Da confrontação entre o campo da sociologia da saúde francês e o material contido nesse conjunto de artigos selecionados, esperamos obter indicações seguras sobre a configuração que assume a teoria de Bourdieu quando toma como objeto a saúde, a doença e a medicina, e quando aplicada por pesquisadores alinhados à sua visão teórica. Por fim, procuramos projetar as problemáticas internas da teoria da práxis nos espaços sociais onde essas práticas ocorrem, extraindo dessas discussões possibilidades de aplicação do referencial de Bourdieu na área médica, tanto no campo francês como no espaço social brasileiro, como forma de enriquecer e incentivar a busca de novos caminhos que possam resolver os graves problemas ligados à saúde na sociedade / Abstract: The objective of this thesis is to analyze the use of Pierre Bourdieu's theory of praxiology in the area of medical sociology or health, specifically in the French academic field and, indirectly, in the field of medical sociology in Brazil. Following a description of the tradition of French social thought in relation to the field of health as well an outline of principal research endeavors related to social medicine, our intent in this study is to situate and to point to the importance of the work of Pierre Bourdieu within that tradition and to describe the main characteristics of his theory of praxiology. As an heuristic instrument, we selected a number of articles dealing with medical sociology or the sociology of health published in the Actes de la recherche en sciences sociales from the years 1975 to 2000. We take it as given that this journal is viewed by specialists in the field as being the major instrument in the presentation and development of the relational thought of Bourdieu; over the course of those years, it functioned as the principal vehicle for transmission of his ideas by research groups who identified themselves with his approach and contributed to the recognition of that intellectual vanguard. In this study, we made use of Bourdieu's methodology in which the notions habitus and field hold a central place, in order to propose a thematic and conceptual classification of the articles that were selected. This procedure enabled us to understand not only development of the field of health but also the different changes in the treatment of the issue of health in France during the period covered in this study. Based on the comparison of the field of the sociology of health in France with the ideas and themes found in the articles examined, we confirm Bourdieu's theories with respect to health, illness and medicine when they are applied by those researches who work within his theoretical foundation. In this study, we also attempt to project the internal problems of the theory of praxis in the social spaces where those practices occur and extract from those debates possible applications of Bourdieu's theory to the medical area in both France and Brazil for the purpose of encouraging the search for new ways and means that may contribute to solving serious health-related problems faced by society / Mestrado / Saude Coletiva / Mestre em Saude Coletiva
