A Study on Strategic Planning of Fishery Port Transformation for Tourism and Recreational Development

Kuo, Ching-Ching 01 August 2006 (has links)
With the active support by the responsible agency, the transformation of fishing ports for tourism and recreation purposes has been a trend in Taiwan. The successful stories at Danshuei, Fuji, Wanggong, Dongshih, Anping, Singda and Houbihu serve as the cases. However, some of the fishing ports, Yeliou and Haikou for example, are not successful. Based on the findings of this research, it could be a ¡§myth¡¨ to develop fishing ports to play all expected diverse functions. Additionly, the government would waste a lot of money and resources if the project failed. Hence, how to properly plan a successful transformation of fishing ports has become an important issue in Taiwan. In order to meet the needs of most people, the transformation of fishing ports should take the preservation of ecology and environment as well as the waterfront landscape seriously. The planners and/or the responsible agencies are encouraged to: (1) properly define the usages and the functions of the fish port; (2) clarify the responsibilities of all related agencies; (3) encourage the involvement of communities, non-profit organizations and enterprises; (4)integrate the recreational system and the image of environment; (5) efficiently redevelop the space that hasn¡¦t been utilized; (6) strengthen the laws and regulations as well as the relevant mechanisms; (7) minimize the potential conflicts in the public spaces and the coastal waters; (8) establish the available information system on tourism and recreation; (9) enhance the education programs on the preservation of ecology and the marine environment. Those mentioned above are the key elements to support the operation of the integrated system of fishing communities, ports and the coastal environment. They can also effectively solve the problems of society, economy, ecology and environment that may come up with the transformation of fishing ports. This research advocates the approach of ¡§bottom-up planning¡¨. It highlights the importance of the available information, the public awareness, the involvement of all stakeholders, and the integrated consideration of all aspects. In short, the successful transformation of fishing ports needs a holistic view instead of a single-purpose approach. Keyword¡GFishing port, waterfront, tourism and recreation, integration.

Nově vzniklé rekreační lokality v kontextu sídelní struktury a ochrany krajiny v Česku / Newly Established Recreational Localities in the Context of the Settlement Structure and Landscape Protection in Czechia

Nožičková, Veronika January 2010 (has links)
The objective of the diploma thesis is to capture the phenomenon of internationalization of second housing in Czechia using the example of Dutch investment in tourism and recreation with a focus on new recreational localities and their impacts on the destinations. The development of this phenomenon has occurred in Czechia since 1990s in the context of the changing geopolitical and geo-economic situation. An important role plays also the offer on real estate market and environmentally attractive localities in the country. Recreational localities owned and used mainly by foreign (Dutch) clients for individual recreation and commercial purposes are established in areas with high tourist-recreational potential. They become an integral part of the physical and social environment and their specific features change its structure and links. Their benefits and risks depend on the nature of recreational localities projects and the target destinations as well. Key words: Czechia, impacts of tourism and recreation, second housing, internationalization, recreational localities

Marketing Analysis and Business Evaluation - : Marketing for a new firm Resort Västra Lägern

Xie, Xuying January 2007 (has links)
Hospitality, tourism and leisure are industry sectors where different factors impinge together to provide a unique marketing context. The importance of concept intangibles, their significance to life-style and cultural preferences of customers in themselves represent a major challenge. Such intangibles may be more vulnerable to changes in customer perception than the physical aspects of product and service delivery. However, intangibles also present an opportunity for individual entrepreneurs to create alternative and differentiated concepts, based on their own view and intuition of what customers will find appealing. Resort Västra Lägern was founded under the circumstances. It is one new, small resort firm in the countryside of Sweden. The owner identified the niche market in this traditional industry. The favorable natural and cultural resources create the business background while the active entrepreneurship makes the possibilities. At the start-up of the firm, marketing analysis is necessary for this SME to position itself properly on the markets and to target the customers effectively. Marketing is absolutely central to the entrepreneurial process. For a new venture to be viable, customers have to desire what it is being offered, in sufficient numbers, and prepared to pay an economical price. This is at the heart of the marketing concept. However, an entrepreneurial approach implies taking advantage of market opportunities in a dynamic, proactive way.

Accessible information for people with disabilities in the context of outdoor recreation

Dahlqvist, Oscar January 2023 (has links)
Accessibility-related information within the tourism sector which would allow people with disabilities to be able to assess the level of accessibility on site is currently lacking. This study focuses on information in regards to outdoor recreational activities within mountain destinations in the middle parts of Sweden. The findings from in-depth interviews with different stakeholders, in addition with a website-analysis, indicate that there is not much information that is aimed towards people with disabilities overall, neither in terms of digital inclusion, nor information regarding the physical accessibility on the examined destinations. There is however examples of positive contributions to increased accessibility efforts found within this study. This study adds research on how the information should be presented in order to allow people with access needs to be able to assess the accessibility in relation to their abilities and disabilities. /
2023-06-16
