No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2018-12-06 / The main purpose of this dissertation was to discuss the name change by transsexuals within a socio-historical framework composed by different discourses, in order to determine the effects over subjectivity. The main authors chosen for the discussion are Freud, Lacan, Foucault, Butler, and Bento. It was adopted the problematization approach established by Foucault. Taken in consideration the complexity of transsexuality, theories and practices from different fields were examined, especially gender and sexuality studies, medicine, law, and psychoanalysis. Therefore, this study traced the history of the studies about sexuality and gender that shaped the current idea of transsexuality, emphasizing the role of psychoanalysis. Then, the experience of sex change registered by Anderson Herzer and João Nery in their autobiographies were reviewed. The medical interventions (hormones therapy and sex reassigning surgeries). The Psychological assistance required by the National Health System, and Transsexuality as a mental disease. Finally, we discussed the name change experience in Herzer and Nery¿s autobiographies. Social name. Transsexuality and psychosis. Proper name and nomination. The conclusion was that the name change is not necessarily an acting out or a break-up with the filiation, taken in consideration that it is recognized by different discourses. Foucault. / Nesta dissertação, propomo-nos investigar a mudança de nome por transexuais. Procuramos elucidar, dentro de um dado contexto sócio histórico, frente às interações dos discursos, que tipo de efeitos essa mudança de nome pode promover sobre a subjetividade. Estabelecemos como principais interlocutores: Freud, Lacan, Foucault, Butler e Bento e utilizamos o método estabelecido por Foucault da problematização. Examinamos teorias e práticas desenvolvidas, procurando chamar atenção para a natureza complexa da transexualidade, tomando como referência vários campos, principalmente, os estudos sobre a sexualidade e o gênero, o médico, o jurídico e o psicanalítico. Portanto, traçamos um histórico das teorias sobre sexualidade e gênero que formataram a compreensão atual da transexualidade, destacando o papel da psicanálise. Depois, abordamos o processo transexualizador, analisamos as experiências de mudança de fenótipo de Anderson Herzer e João Nery registradas em suas autobiografias. As intervenções da medicina (administração de hormônios e cirurgias de transgenitalização). A assistência mental requerida pelo Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) e a despatologização da transexualidade. Finalmente, analisamos a mudança de nome nas autobiografias de Herzer e Nery. Discutimos a questão do nome social. A relação entre transexualidade e psicose. Nominação e nome próprio. Concluímos que a mudança de nome não representa necessariamente uma passagem ao ato ou um rompimento com a filiação, levando em consideração que ela está inserida em uma rede discursiva onde é reconhecida. Acreditamos que a adoção de um novo nome pode ter estatuto de uma nominação, marcar outra temporalidade e inscrever o sujeito em uma nova posição. Palavras-chave: Transexualidade. Nome social. Esta pesquisa problematiza a categoria da transexualidade, em sua dimensão psicopatológica, e questiona seu caráter normativo, que pretende alinhar sexo, gênero, prática sexual e desejo, concernente às identidades sexuais. Ao desenvolvê-la, são discutidas as implicações dos determinismos anatomosexual e de gênero, no processo de subjetivação das transexuais; também se reflete quanto à pertinência do diagnóstico psiquiátrico de Transtorno de Identidade de Gênero, para a transexualidade; analisam-se concepções psicanalíticas que sustentam o diagnóstico de psicose para a transexualidade; investiga-se a possibilidade da intervenção cirúrgica de transgenitalização subverter a ordem binária sexo/gênero e, finalmente, consideram-se as implicações da mudança de sexo, nas subjetividades das transexuais. Os dados da pesquisa foram coletados e analisados, segundo a práxis do método qualitativo, utilizando-se a entrevista semiestruturada como principal instrumento de trabalho de campo. Os participantes da pesquisa são transexuais de homem para mulher, que já haviam realizado a cirurgia de transgenitalização ou que ainda aguardavam a oportunidade de fazê-la. A coleta de dados foi realizada no Serviço de Ginecologia do Hospital das Clínicas da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco UFPE. Seus resultados foram discutidos à luz das contribuições teóricas de Michel Foucault e Judith Butler, no campo filosófico, e de Robert Stoller, Catherine Millot, Márcia Arán, Jurandir Costa e outros autores contemporâneos, no campo psicanalítico. Os resultados da pesquisa demonstram que, ao desconstruir as concepções normativas inerentes ao sistema binário sexo-gênero, as pessoas transexuais ultrapassam os limites das certezas psicopatológicas e, ao mesmo tempo, confirmam suas subjetividades / This research questions the category of transsexuality in its psychopathologic dimension and the normative character concerning the sexual identities, which intend to inextricably connect sex, gender, sexual practice and desire. The implications of the sexual-anatomic and gender determinism in the process of the development of the subjectivities of the transsexuals are discussed; the pertinence of the Gender Identity Disorder (GID) psychiatric diagnosis for transsexuality is questioned; the psychoanalytic conceptions that support the psychosis diagnosis for transsexuality are analyzed; the possibility of sex change surgery subverting the sex-gender binary order is investigated; and finally, the implications of sex change surgery are considered in the subjectivities of the transsexuals. The data was collected and analyzed according to the qualitative research method and the semi-structured interview was used as the main instrument for the field research. The participants were male-to-female (MTF)transsexuals who had already undergone the surgery or were still waiting for the opportunity to do so. The data collection took place in the Gynecological Clinic in the Hospital das Clínicas da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE) and the results were discussed in light of the theoretic contributions of Michel Foucault and Judith Butler, in the philosophical area, as well as those of Robert Stoller, Catherine Millot, Márcia Arán, Jurandir Costa and other contemporary authors, in the psychoanalytic area.
