Nestas condições, algumas regiões do reservatório passam por períodos em que os teores de oxigênio dissolvido e a concentração de matéria orgânica comprometem o equilíbrio da flora e fauna locais, afetando tanto a qualidade das águas como também os ecótonos vizinhos.
