Há uma carência de um consenso teórico sobre como as melhorias do setor atingem as localidades, mesmo porque as particularidades destas interferem nos efeitos dos incrementos no setor. Assim, é necessário sempre se estudar o tema considerando a conjuntura das regiões analisadas. Em um país em desenvolvimento, como o Brasil, e com diversos problemas de cunho estrutural, deve-se prezar por pesquisas que valorizem os investimentos nos setores mais deficientes e que, com isso, vislumbrem o crescimento econômico. Dessa forma, o presente trabalho estuda como os investimentos na infraestrutura de transportes, realizados entre os anos de 2008 e 2013 nos estados brasileiros, afetaram crescimento econômico do país. Através de um modelo de dados em painel de efeitos fixos, elucida-se que o processo de crescimento econômico é multicausal, destacando-se também a relevância das interações geográficas através dos spillovers (P&D, dotação de infraestrutura e investimentos nesta). O transbordamento dos investimentos em infraestrutura de transporte foi utilizado pela primeira vez em uma análise do contexto brasileiro. Os resultados do trabalho mostraram que a oferta de mais conexões rodoviárias e os spillovers de investimento em infraestrutura de transporte foram positivas ao crescimento econômico do Brasil e se mostraram mais importantes que os investimentos em P&D, os quais não foram estatisticamente significativos. Ademais, a dotação de infraestrutura presente no Brasil se mostra prejudicial ao crescimento do país, o que ratifica a relevância de políticas públicas voltadas à melhoria dos transportes. / Although transport infrastructure generates benefits, such as the commercial intensification, the magnitude of the impacts of these on the economic growth is still much discussed. There is a lack of theoretical consensus on how improvements in the sector reach localities, even because their particularities interfere with the effects of the increases in the sector. Thus, it is always necessary to study the subject considering the conjuncture of the analyzed regions. In a developing country, such as Brazil, and with a number of structural problems, one should take advantage of researches which value investments in the poorest sectors and, thus, glimpse economic growth. Therefore, the present research studies how investments in transportation infrastructure, carried out between the years of 2008 and 2013 in the brazilian states, affected the country's economic growth. Through a fixed-effects panel data model, the process of economic growth is multi-causal and the relevance of geographic interactions through spillovers (R&D, infrastructure endowment and investments) is highlighted. The overflow of investments in transport infrastructure was used for the first time in an analysis of the brazilian context. The results of the study showed that the increased supply of road connections and investment spillovers in transport infrastructure were positive for Brazil's economic growth and were more important than R&D investments, which were not statistically significant. In addition, the provision of infrastructure in Brazil is detrimental to the country's growth, which ratifies the relevance of public policies aimed at improving transportation.
