A Research On Consumers’ AttitudesTowards Marketing : The case of Vietnam

Phan Nguyen, Thien Thanh, Tran, Quynh Mai January 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to present an alternative perspective of marketing, which is lookingat the concept from a macro point of view, with a chosen country-Vietnam. There are three maingoals that this investigation strives to achieve. In specific, it aims first to observe whether theVietnamese consumers have favorable or unfavorable attitudes towards the marketing systemthat currently operating nationally. This is reached through an application of ICSM model, whichbased very much on the famous marketing mix paradigm (4Ps).The second purpose of this thesis is to test whether Vietnam market exist the relationshipsbetween consumers’ sentiment toward marketing practices and customer satisfaction. Theapplied models in this case are Kano Model and ACSI model where it proposed that therelationship exits. Thirdly, as Vietnam is a developing country, the role of government isexpected to have an effect on the issue of marketing practice, which implicitly can influence thevariables of consumer attitude and consumer satisfaction. Therefore, we took this opportunity todetermine whether it is the case and reflects that with results from previous studies. And above all, demographic factors including age, gender, education background, andoccupation are tested against the three main variables of attitude, satisfaction, and government. To achieve all the three main goals, we adopt quantitative research strategy with self-completedquestionnaires. A total sample of 445 respondents is obtained from two biggest cities ofVietnam- Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The analyzed results show that Vietnamese consumersare much more favorable to the current marketing activities, in comparison to other countrieswith well-developed economic situation. Moreover, the results also proved that there is positiverelationship between the two pairs of variable: attitude - satisfaction, and government regulations- satisfaction; while between government and attitude, a negative correlation is found. Finally, the statistics also shows that demographic factors do have correlation on the variables thoughsome are more influential than others.

Vietnam and Mainland China's Border Trade and It's Effect On Those Border Area

Le, Tuan-Thanh 05 August 2002 (has links)
Since the old time, Vietnam and Mainland China have maintained a commercial relationship in the border area, due to their similarities in long-standing culture, custom, geographical location, trade and economy. Following this, the first purpose of this thesis is to look into the policies that the governments of both Vietnam and Mainland China have for the border trade and to understand the characteristics of the development in the border trade between these two countries. However, since the official statistic of international trade differs significantly between Vietnam and China, I have, therefore, encountered tremendous difficulty in data collection, filtering, and analysis. The second purpose of this thesis is to explain how the border trade influences the development of the frontier region. The influence resulted from the border trade brings both advantages and disadvantages to the two countries. The advantages lie in advancing the development, which stabilizes the lives of the border residents as well as the local government, in such fields as the infrastructure, government, inhabitants, industry, etc. As to the disadvantages, their existence prevents border trade from expanding. These disadvantages originate from such factors as smuggling, mimicry, trade deficit and so on. These unfavorable factors will have significant negative influence on policy makers¡¦ decisions about trading issues over the boarder. The issue of whether the participation in WTO of Mainland China now and the participation in NAFTA of Vietnam in the near future give an impetus to the development of the border trade or not is also included in the discussion of this thesis.

The Study of China¡¦s Diplomatic Policy to Vietnam¡]1975¡Ð2007¡^

Wei, Pin-I 25 June 2008 (has links)
In order to look into the future, people of current era speculate about something past. The historical issues between China and Vietnam have affected diplomatic policy both. For the sake of analyzing the China¡¦s diplomatic policy toward Vietnam, the thesis traces back the historical contexts and proceeding. The purpose of diplomatic policy is achieving national benefits, including foreign relations and influences. For different subjects and goals, the characters of diplomatic policy will change. China and Vietnam established diplomatic relations since 1950; they were in brotherliness. From 1960 to 1970, their relations were getting worse because of definitions of communism. Even from 1970 to 1990, they fought each other. After 1990, they started normalizing mutually; then, announcing ¡§the four goods¡¨: making good relations for good neighbor, good friend, good comrades, and good partner with each other at 2005. The thesis argues that there are four factors affecting the China¡¦s diplomatic policy toward Vietnam: international conditions, sovereignty of territory, ideology and China-Vietnam relations; and further, the theory of thesis is Realism. Explaining transitions and meanings of China¡¦s diplomatic policy toward Vietnam is all on this ground.

The impacts of financial development on economic activities in Vietnam.

Phan, Nguyen Dinh January 2008 (has links)
This thesis examines the impacts of financial development on economic activities in Vietnam at both the macro and the micro level in three core chapters. The first core chapter examines the role of financial development in growth and sources of growth in Vietnam by using the provincial panel data. It shows that financial development has a positive influence on the efficiency of using savings, on the quantity and quality of investment, on productivity, and hence growth. It also finds that there is an indirect impact of financial development on growth mainly through increasing the quality of foreign direct investment rather than the quantity. The following chapter analyses the determinants of household financial development and its role in economic activities of Vietnamese households by using the Household Data Survey. It suggests that the social relationship, location, fixed assets, household size, education, age and Kinh group are the key determinants of household financial development. Moreover, financial development contributes to household income through improving the level of savings and investment, labour productivity and reducing the problem of asymmetric information. Financial development is positively related to household welfare. The final core chapter looks at the impacts of financial development on firm performance in Vietnam by using the Firm Data Survey. It suggests that around 80.7% of Vietnamese firms lie between 0% and 20% in the efficiency scores derived from the DEA technique for 1,886 firms. Financial development plays a key role in firm performance. Smaller firms benefit more from the higher level of financial development. / http://proxy.library.adelaide.edu.au/login?url= http://library.adelaide.edu.au/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?BBID=1349510 / Thesis (Ph.D.) -- University of Adelaide, School of Economics, 2008
