This master thesis is consisted of literature search and practise part with focusing on the theme of abrasive water jet cutting. Introductory chapters deal with various methods and principles water jet cutting. Following chapters deal with quality of cutting surface by abrasive water jet cutting. After these chapters is introduced machine equipment of water jet cutting technology. At the end of this theoretical part are listed advantages and comparison with other unconventional technologies. In the practical part is solved design of machinery with regard to manufacturing technology of component flange in series 630 000 pieces per year. Last chapter describes economic evaluation of production.

A Study of Strategy Evaluation of Steel Materials Shot-Blasting and Painting Industry

ABSTRACT ¡§A¡¨ company concentrates on ¡§Water Jet¡¨ business for more than twenty years, it had grown slowly and steadly. For this reason, the founder would like diversify his existing business from coping as the spinouts of Plastic Group and CPC Corporation, Taiwan. ¡§A¡¨ company did some investments, they are shot-blasting and rust remover automatic machine. And because politic, economic and environment evaluation factors, the spinouts couldn¡¦t be build up as they expected. Thus, results of related business were not good. The research analyze the related potential business by interact effects of vertical integration to break through its difficult position and then expend its business to step into the ¡§Blue Ocean Market¡¨. The research way of this case was adopted a two-steps method. The first step was quality inquiry, and than made use of AHP method to do some related pilot survey. Ten companies of three types industry were subjects of this study. They were the manager of piping assembly industry, structural steel industry and steel plates industry. There were ten questionnaires in quality investigation and quantification item of each step. All together, there were forty questionnaires. The key point of this research was to do qualitative statistical analyze and compare and calculate index weight to apply the order of priority for suitable business classification. By the AHP¡¦s research and questionnaires of the vertically integratation of sandblasting factory in the in the field of Taiwan, we have found the medium-term and long-term result is atmospherics and steady on the first phase which we have asked people to choose the appropriate category. What the heaviest weight of the quantifiable computation is the steel sheet industry (47.1%)¡Aplumbing industry is next best(29.2%). Therefore, the second stage of the research is order of steel sheet industry. The result of qualitative statistic in second stage are ¡§high value-added¡¨ and ¡§optimistically long-term¡¨. The order of result of quantifiable questionnaire is ¡§tank manufacture¡¨, 34.6%; ¡§bridge reinforcement¡¨, 31.3% and ¡§sewage pipe¡¨, 27.8%. As to ¡§large case beam¡¨ just accounts for the weight 6.4%, it does not adapt to make the vertical conformity of process products in sandblasting industry. The weight of the first three products is very close, that means three products also to be adaptable to make the vertical conformity. Cavitation Detection In a Water Jet Propulsion Unit

Various sensing and digital signal processing approaches to detect cavitation in a water jet propulsion unit were examined based on results in the literature. Several commercially viable sensors were evaluated based upon their ability to detect the cavitation phenomenon, cost, and robustness. An algorithm has been implemented and tested against data recorded from the candidate sensors. The combination of vibration and pressure sensors and the algorithm appear promising and a path for further development and testing is available to Hamilton Jet.

Numerical simulation of the hydraulic performances and flow pattern of swallow-tailed flip bucket

Yes / In this study, the evolution process of the swallow-tailed flip bucket water nappe entering into the plunge pool is simulated by using the standard 𝑘-𝜀 turbulence model and the volume of fluid method. The effects of the upstream opening width ratio and downstream bucket angle on the flow pattern, the unit discharge distribution and the impact pressure distribution are studied. Based on the numerical results, the inner and outer jet trajectories are proposed by using the data. Results show that the longitudinal stretching length decreases with the increase of the upstream opening width ratio, and increases with the increase of the downstream bucket angle. The water nappe enters the plunge pool in a long strip shape. Thus, the unit discharge distribution of water nappe entry is consistent with the pressure distribution at the plunge pool bottom. The upstream opening width ratio and downstream bucket angle should be chosen as their intermediate values in order to have a uniform discharge distribution and to reduce the pressure peak at the plunge pool floor, which is effectively to avoid instability and destruction of plunge pool floor. / National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (No. 51625901) and National Nature Science Foundation of China (No: 51579165).

The first part is aimed to description of the water jet technology and shows the possibilities of controlling and awarding data for cutting. Follows the chapter about the influences of the input parameters to a surface quality and machining accuracy. The thesis also giving an account of ecological factors of the water jet cutting. The description of the whole technology for production of the sprocket is a part of the thesis. The last part of the thesis is solving the economics of the water jet cutting technology, especially for production of the sprocket with comparing dependency of the cutting conditions.
