O objetivo geral da dissertação visa compreender se existe realmente um Arranjo Produtivo Local (APL) da banana em Wenceslau Guimarães. Para isso, foram elaborados mapas temáticos, tabelas e gráficos, além de registros fotográficos e entrevistas, sempre com o objetivo de compreender a dinâmica produtiva do território, objeto central do estudo. Através das análises levantadas foi possível afirmar que a região do Baixo Sul baiano é responsável por significativa participação na produção de banana do país, principalmente a variedade de banana tipo Terra – plátano –, sendo que desta região, o município de Wenceslau Guimarães é detentora da maior área cultivada de banana em todo território nacional. Todavia, este município possui sérias limitações, quer por seu espaço físico natural, quer por sua ausência de infraestrutura voltada ao cultivo, beneficiamento e comercialização da banana. Porém, mesmo com relevantes empecilhos ao desenvolvimento agrícola, Wenceslau Guimarães chama atenção por sua organização social voltada para a relação do homem com o campo, ficando claro que o pequeno produtor familiar é o grande responsável pelo destaque da cultura pesquisada, mesmo encontrando limitações na sua capacidade de produção e escoamento comercial. Sendo assim, a pesquisa desenvolvida mostrou que o APL da banana não apresenta um amadurecimento da sua efetiva aplicabilidade, mostrando-se ainda em uma fase embrionária de desenvolvimento e não proporciona uma estabilidade econômica e política estratégica, afim de garantir uma confiança sólida por parte dos comerciantes e, principalmente, pelo agricultor familiar. / This paper presents an analysis of the spatial distribution of the banana crop in Brazil and Bahia, particularly the city of Guimarães Wenceslas / Bahia. The overall objective of the dissertation seeks to understand if there really is a Local Productive Arrangement (APL) Banana Wenceslas Guimarães. For this, we developed thematic maps, tables and charts, and photographic records and interviews, always with the goal of understanding the dynamics of the productive territory, the central object of study. Through the analysis raised was possible to say that the Lower South Bahia is responsible for significant participation in banana production in the country, especially the variety of Earth-type banana - banana -, and this region, the municipality of Guimarães holds the Wenceslas largest acreage of banana nationwide. However, this city has serious limitations, either by natural physical space, either by its lack of infrastructure dedicated to the cultivation, processing and marketing of bananas. However, even with significant impediments to agricultural development, Wenceslas Guimarães draws attention for its social organization dedicated to man's relationship with the field, making it clear that the small family producer is largely responsible for the prominence of culture researched, even finding limitations in their production capacity and market outlets. Therefore, the study conducted showed that APL does not have a banana ripening its effective applicability, being still in an embryonic phase of development and does not provide a strategic economic and political stability, in order to ensure a solid confidence on the part of merchants, and especially the family farmer.
