This dissertation analyses the Catholic militant culture in Belo Horizonte between 1909 and 1941. The confessional culture identifies the militant Catholics, sets them apart from others and unites them in a specific militant culture in confrontation with revolutionary branches of the labour movement. The Catholic militancy of the city imposed its associative culture to create a network of workers' organizations that achieved a specific and combative way of struggle for rights, even though in line with a worldview influenced by the social teachings of the Catholic Church / Doutorado / Historia Social / Doutor em História
