Pelagic Copepoda Collected off the West Coast of Barbados.

Fish, Arthur Geoffrey. January 1958 (has links)
This paper is a report of the planktonic Copepod material collected from Barbados, British West Indies, during 1956-1958. Only free-living and semi-parasitic copepods have been included. Wickstead (1956) has made a collection of copepods from the Barbados area consisting of 196 hauls over a period of two months, March and April. No previous study has attempted a collection of at least one year, or a plot of the population increase and decrease during the year, although considerable importance is attached to the decrease accompanying the hurricane season, which begins in July and continues until October.

Zoogeography and systematics of isopoda of the Beaufort Sea.

Bray, Joseph. R. January 1962 (has links)
Note: Missing Pages to 130-133. / Isopoda are crustaceans which possess seven pairs of legs of about equal size, are flattened dorsoventrally and have no carapace. The thoracic limbs are without exopodites, pleopods are modified for respiration and the antennual exopodite is absent or minute. The isopods are a large group and exhibit much variety. They vary in size from two or three millimeters to several centimeters. A giant deep-sea form, Bathynomus giganteus, from the Gulf of Mexico and Indian Ocean, attains a length of 30 cm. and width of about 10 cc. The natural habitat of isopods is in salt and fresh water or in moist situations in the case of most terrestrial forms.

On the age, growth, migratory habits and reproductive potential of the arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus) of Frobisher Bay, Baffin Island.

Grainger, Edward. H. January 1953 (has links)
While references to the Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus L.) in the literature of the northern regions are numerous, studies devoted to various aspects of the biology of this important and widely ranging species are few. No extensive study on the growth rate of the Arctic char has been found, nor has growth been the subject of more than superficial attention in the small number of works discovered which have dealt with it. Migratory habits have been discussed more frequently, but observers have not been sufficiently long at one place to observe extensively the migratory movements of a single population.

The littoral transition of eastern Baffin Island.

Ellis, Derek. V. January 1954 (has links)
In 1817 - 78 the Howgate Polar expedition wintered in Cumberland Sound, Baffin Island, at the little harbour of Annanactook. The position of the camp is now uncertain, but it was probably at the head of the Sound, on the east shore, within thirty or forty miles of Pangnirtung. Included in the personnel of the expedition were two scientists, Sherman and Kumlien, who were responsible for the meteorological and biological observations. Kumlien was the first professional biologist to examine the shores of Baffin Island (Kumlien, 1879).
