From my experience in the Sheffield Royal Hospital, I have reason to believe that the use of patent pills as an abortifacient is a fast growing evil and a social scandal. Any woman can procure "Female corrective Pills" from almost any so-called respectable chemist without running any risk of being asked difficult questions. From the analysis of some of these pills it is shown that she can get sufficient of a powerful drug, not only to remove so-called obstructions, but to produce grave disease of bowels, kidneys, central and peripheral nervous systems, not unfrequently wrecking the health temporarily but permanently and even leading to fatal results as evidenced by several writers. Added to this the desired result is not always secured as there is a wide margin of uncertainty in the action of the drug which always endangers life and sometimes destroys it, at least leaving behind it some temporary enfeeblement of body or mind.

Cytogenetic studies of recurrent abortion have established that a significantly higher frequency of translocations exist within the population of couples presenting with histories of repeated abortion than in the general population. However, few of these studies have been able to establish a direct correlation between balanced parental rearrangement and the recurrent abortion. The present study was a cytogenetic analysis of couples with recurrent abortion, and utilized (i) the newer chromosome banding techniques and (ii) cytogenetic and morphological data on one or more abortus specimen per couple. During the course of the study 50 couples and two women were studied. Chromosomes were obtained from leukocyte blood cultures and giemsa-banded. C-banding and/or fluorescent banding was employed only if the karyotype was suspected to be abnormal. One translocation was found among 102 individuals: a t(14q15q) in a woman who had aborted a specimen with growth disorganization and a karyotype 45,XY,t(14q15q). The implications of this finding are discussed. Morphological studies on the abortuses indicated that specimens with growth disorganization are more frequent among women who are recurrent aborters with no term pregnancies and, were found to recur among this sub-population. The frequency of translocations among couples with recurrent abortion is considered in terms of the effects of translocations on reproductivity. This is a essay about the abortions debate in the Swedish parliament in 1974. This paper sought to find out how the Swedish parliament talks about abortion and about the women that wanted one, by using the idea analysis and the analytical instrument subject positions. The result is that the Swedish parliament debate about the abortion talks about abortion i four different ways. First as a murder, secondly as a emergency measure, thirdly as a free right during the first 18 weeks of the pregnancy and lastly as something that should be completely up to the women. Were the second and third way is the biggest. The way the members of the parliament sees abortion influences the way they se the women and the roll of the society in the abortion situation. One side means that it is a to big burden for the women to carry on there own and that decisions about abortion should be taken in consultation with a welfare officer and a doctor. The other side means that women should have the same rights as men, that they are capable to take decisions about there possibility to take care of the babies.
