A Study on Manufacturing Errors and Positioning Accuracy of Curvic CouplingsLin, Cheng-Ta 04 July 2000 (has links)
Curvic couplings have been widely applied in industry and almost can be seen in the index table. Following the development of the precision machine industry, except the manufacturing precision, the positioning accuracy is also concerned to meet the demands for curvic couplings.
The aim of this thesis is to investigate on manufacturing errors and positioning accuracy of curvic couplings. Discuss the geometric and indexing characteristics of curvic couplings firstly. In the meantime, the new parameter tooth surface of curvic couplings is derived by tooth generating theory. Than, mathematical models are established to simulate curvic couplings at present that are manufactured by grinding machine with different setting errors. Secondly, the practical examples based on the effects of elemental error on the manufacturing error are investigated. Finally, an experimental apparatus is built to measure the actual positioning accuracy of curvic couplings at different input speeds.

Sales forecasting managementSESKAUSKIS, ZYGIMANTAS, NARKEVICIUS, ROKAS January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this research is to investigate current company business process from sales forecasting perspective and provide potential improvements of how to deal with unstable market demand and increase overall precision of forecasting. The problem which company face is an unstable market demand and not enough precision in sales forecasting process. Therefore the research questions are: How current forecasting process can be improved? What methods, can be implemented in order to increase the precision of forecasting? Study can be described as an action research using an abductive approach supported by combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis practices. In order to achieve high degree of reliability the study was based on verified scientific literature and data collected from the case company while collaborating with company’s COO. Research exposed the current forecasting process of the case company. Different forecasting methods were chosen according to the existing circumstances and analyzed in order to figure out which could be implemented in order to increase forecasting precision and forecasting as a whole. Simple exponential smoothing showed the most promising accuracy results, which were measured by applying MAD, MSE and MAPE measurement techniques. Moreover, trend line analysis was applied as well, as a supplementary method. For the reason that the case company presents new products to the market limited amount of historical data was available. Therefore simple exponential smoothing technique did not show accurate results as desired. However, suggested methods can be applied for testing and learning purposes, supported by currently applied qualitative methods.

Defect Detection Via THz Imaging: Potentials & LimitationsHoushmand, Kaveh 22 May 2008 (has links)
Until recent years, terahertz (THz) waves were an undiscovered, or most importantly, an unexploited area of electromagnetic spectrum. This was due to difficulties in generation and detection of THz waves. Recent advances in hardware technology have started to open up the field to new applications such as THz imaging. This non-destructive and non-contact imaging technique can penetrate through diverse materials such that internal structures, in some cases invisible to other imaging modalities, can be visualized.
Today, there are variety of techniques available to generate and detect THz waves in both pulsed and continuous fashion in two different geometries; transition, and reflection modes. In this thesis continuous wave THz imaging was employed for higher spatial resolution.
However, with any new technology comes its challenges; automated processing of THz images can be quite cumbersome. Low contrast and the presence of a widely unknown type of noise make the analysis of these images difficult. In this work, there is an attempt to detect defects in composite material via segmentation by using a Terahertz imaging system. According to our knowledge, this is the first time that this type of materials are being tested under Terahertz cameras to detect manufacturing defects in aerospace industry.
In addition, segmentation accuracy of THz images have been investigated by using a phantom. Beyond the defect detection for composite materials, this can establish some general knowledge about Terahertz imaging, its capabilities and limitations.
To be able to segment the THz images successfully, pre-processing techniques are inevitable. In this thesis, a variety of different image processing techniques, self-developed or available from literature, have been employed for image enhancement. These methods range from filtering to contrast adjustment to fusion of phase and amplitude images by using fuzzy set theory, to just name a few. The result of pre-procssing and segmentation methods demonstrates promising outcome for future work in this field.

Porovnání konvenčních PTP a PTN s proudovými a napěťovými senzory / Comparison of conventional CT and VT with current and voltage sensorsDvořák, Petr January 2019 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with conventional transformers and current and voltage sensors. The first half of thesis describes mainly the basic concepts and accuracy classes of these converters used in electrical substations. The emphasis is given primarily on the differences. In the second half of thesis is presented an exact type of converters, which are installed in the substation Medlánky. There is an analysis of measured data from long – term monitoring from this substation and comparing the results from conventional transformers compared to the results from more modern sensors.
