In this way, the following hypothesis was taken into account: In the Archival Science, the logic of instrumental action hinders the field character as science when, in fact, it is unfolded as a technique. In this perspective, by means of the evidential method and the critical hermeneutics, we searched through interpretative evidence to find clues for the epistemological uncertainness in which the Archival Science is circumscribed, especially, in the theoretical and methodological context. Therefore, through this evidential action, the possibilities of an Archival Science technique or of an Archival Science - Science were measured. In effect, it was observed that the Archival Science can not ignore the technique as procedure, but one major concern is related to the scientification of the technique which became the Archival Science ideology; the first sense and the last one about which the reason of being is constituted as basis. Thereby, the evidential and interpretative results demonstrate that if the Archival Science is reduced to a set of techniques, it refers to a product and not to a science that, usually, produces truths and implements them by creating products. Consequently, it can be concluded that this study enabled to perceive that a reflective action in the context of Archival Science research can make the Archival Science to distance from the functional/pragmatic model that registered it in the historicization process. / sob a luz da Ciência da Informação, de modo que essa problematização tenha um papel fundamental no contexto arquivístico. Desse modo, partimos da seguinte hipótese: Em Arquivologia, a lógica do agir instrumental obstrui o caráter do campo como ciência quando, na verdade, desdobra-se mais como técnica. Nesse sentido, por intermédio do método indiciário e da hermenêutica crítica, buscamos através dos indícios interpretativos, encontrar as pistas para as incertezas epistemológicas em que a Arquivologia está circunscrita, sobretudo, no contexto teórico-metodológico. Logo, através dessa ação indiciária medimos as possibilidades de uma Arquivologia técnica ou de uma Arquivologia Ciência. Com efeito, observamos que a Arquivologia não pode fugir da técnica como procedimento, mas, o que nos deixa preocupados é que a cientificação da técnica se tornou a própria ideologia da Arquivologia, o sentido primeiro e último sobre o qual a razão de ser constitui-se como base. De todo modo, os resultados indiciários e interpretativos demonstram que se a Arquivologia reduz-se a um conjunto de técnicas, trata-se de um produto e não de uma ciência que via de regra, produz verdades e implementa verdades criando produtos. Por conseguinte, concluímos que esse estudo permitiu perceber que uma ação reflexiva no contexto da pesquisa em Arquivologia, poderá fazer com que a Arquivologia se distancie do modelo funcional/pragmático que a marcou no processo de historicização.
