Zahrádková, Nikola January 2021 (has links)
(in English): This thesis focused on the phenomenon of unplastered brick through the work of Czech architects Jan Kotěra, Josef Gočár, Otakar Novotný and Jaroslav Rössler, who began working with this material between 1906-1913, and then during the 1920s, when they discovered Possibilities of gray masonry also architects Pavel Janák and Jaroslav Vondrák. Selected architects, working mainly in Prague and other Czech cities, belong to the circle of pupils and collaborators of the architect Jan Kotěra. The method of work consists in the knowledge of brick material through a formal analysis of a specific architectural work and its placement in a broader art historical and socio-historical context, which allows its interpretation. My research questions include how architects work with brick material and how these manifestations change. I am also interested in which buildings are designed in gray material in terms of typology. The work considers the changing relationship of architecture to brick material, as it can be perceived as a purely traditional and modern material. Therefore, the first chapters are devoted to the topic of brick and a brief explanation of its characteristics. I also consider it essential in the local context to deal with the tradition of using gray masonry in historical and...

Česká sakrální architektura v letech 1900 - 1950 v mezinárodním kontextu / Czech Sacral Architecture between 1900 - 1950 in International Context

Obrtlík, Jan January 2018 (has links)
The thesis deals with the history and the interpretation of the development of sacral architecture during the first half of the twentieth century. It interprets the topic in a broad framework, which mentions the historical preconditions of this development and in the most important cases also its international relations. The introductional chapters list all up-to-date publications to the topic and suggest certain means of interpretation of sacral architecture which reflects the natural division of this topic between the disciplines of architectural theory and religion science. The own thesis begins with characteristics of social and religious situation in the Austria-Hungary and its consequences of sacral architectural development. It mentions basic examples of sacral buildings and the measure of their relation to the contemporary architectural development in general. Subsequently it mentions transformational influence of World War I and of declaration of souverain Czechoslovakia, which led to the emergence of new churches with their own architectural ambitions and also to the focus shifting of discipline to new contemporary topics. It follows the parallels with contemporary architectural trends of 1920's and the level of their use in the specific field of religious buildings also in relation to individual churches with their different architectural developments. Further it mentions sacral building development in 1930's with the emphasis in relation to the contemporary social atmosphere and in accent transformation between conservative and progressive religious approach. Than it follows with a review of religious culture transformation during World War II in Protectorate Czech Moravia and shows particularity of unnumerous examples of church buildings and projects from this era. The final part than reflects the evolution of the social role of religion after the War as well as an influence of communist coup in 1948 at potential of sacral architecture. It states the negative influence of both totalitarian regimes on the quality of sacral buildings of following period and on a poor measure of disciplines theoretical knowledge, which among others results in unsufficient primary sources, from which this thesis would likely have taken. Even when this thesis have not and cannot have an ambition of full exploration of the topic, it presents the factography and collecion of interpretations, by means of which the significant gap in the historiography of 20th century Czech sacral architecture can be at least partially bridged.

Hromadná bytová výstavba ve 2. pol. 20. stol. v České republice a její zahradně-architektonické souvislosti

Magni, Anna January 2016 (has links)
The dissertation addresses the extensive topic of mass housing estates from the years 1945– 1989 in the Czech Republic, touching upon the European context and using wider sources. It examines the aspects of garden art and landscape architecture in detail; explores the forms of free spaces in the housing estates which indicate major differences from the previous types of residential as well as generally urban development; and elaborates on the applied means of garden art. The differences between the urban structure of traditional urban spaces and the post-war housing estates are best illustrated by the typology of the housing estates according to the relation between the development and the landscape, which was created based on the author’s own analysis of the spatial characteristics of housing estates across all the evolution stages. The cornerstone of the work is a summary of the issues and the unused potential in the field of spatial, social and environmental characteristics of free spaces of housing estates. The final part presents a list of specific principles by which a garden designer or a landscape architect can intervene in the exterior of mass housing estates in order to remove the problems and achieve a special, unique environment with a positive image.

Geneze pravého úhlu v architektuře raného neolitu Předního Východu: ekologické a sociální aspekty rané urbanizace / Development of right angle in early Neolithic architecture in the Near East: ecological and social aspects of early urbanisation

Šmolková, Markéta January 2021 (has links)
The thesis deals with the change from the circular to a rectangular building during the Pre- Pottery Neolithic B period (PPNB) in the Levant and researches the possible influence of environmental conditions on this transition. The observed area comprises variable regions from northern Syria to central Jordan. Sites for the analysis were selected according to architectural and chronological criteria. The chosen chronological scope is delimited by final phases of late Pre-Pottery Neolithic A (10 000-9500 BP) and by middle PPNB (9200-8500 BP) periods, with the early PPNB period as a key one, considered as a period of the commencement of rectangular buildings. Because of the high architectural variability across the northern and the southern Levant, besides the chronological scope also the architectural criteria must be extended. Therefore, circular, and rectangular building shapes were classified too. A database of Levantine sites was compiled, which enabled to compare distinct development of the ground plan within a diverse environment of the arid, steppe, and Mediterranean territories and revealed a relatively broad time scope of the change. In the process of evaluation, the main attention was paid to the variable environmental conditions of the northern and southern Levant: the individual...

Společnost nad Sázavou / Society over the Sázava

Drnovská, Adéla January 2017 (has links)
The topic of this diploma thesis is in accordance with the intent of the city of Žďár nad Sázavou to renovate an existing building of a kindergarten on Okružní street, and turn it into a community center. The focus of this thesis follows up the preceding term, the analytical part of which delved into possibilities, risks and the capacity of the city. In addition, the aim of this thesis conforms to the specialization of Res Publica module in social buildings of the city. The key prerequisite of the assignment is to work with the existing building, namely the kindergarten, hence the renovation and the extention. Unlike conventional and new development on a greenfield site, this project makes a point of utilizing existing values, making the city denser along with strengthening it, thus resulting in bringing about the difference compared to contemporary colonization of an open countryside. The design of the construction changes of the existing building must take development continuity perception into consideration, first and foremost the load-bearing system of the building, lest the newly-designed development layer belie the previous ones.
