Asylprocessen ur ett folkhälsoperspektiv : I väntan på beslut när tiden står still / Asylumprocess throughout a people’s- health- perspective : Waiting while the time stands still

Oresten, Hampus, Goldman, Mira January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this essay is to investigate asylum- seekers health during the asylum time with focus on a people's-health- perspective, what affect health. Secondly to investigate awareness among asylum- seekers about their rights.   Earlier research showed: lack off occupation (activities, work) and lack of support leads to psychological ill-health.   Methods: Eight interviews were made with a mix of individual asylum seekers and Refugees, one family interview, one with a person from two NGO organizations, Red Cross and The Swedish church. Two group interviews were held with staff members at asylum accommodations.   Results: Being part in a community and being occupied with Swedish learning, internship or other meaningful activities were beneficial to the asylum seekers health. Long waiting time for some asylum- seekers (referred in the interviews) made them passive because of loss of motivation. Many had family back in their home-country. Some asylum-seekers had good contact with their family, while others had family members who were unreachable from time to time. Asylum-seekers in those cases had a lot of stress and anxiety. Some asylum-seekers felt that they lacked information about their rights and information about Sweden.
