From the instrument developed for the assessment shows that the timely collection is not yet consolidated, as there was heterogeneity between units regarding collections of tests being conducted over seven days. Occurs with a proportionality indices equal to nationals among the pathologies hypothyroidism, phenylketonuria and hemoglobinopathies. Sickle cell trait in the region presents a bit high, at a ratio of 50/3138. In the evaluation among professionals responsible for Newborn Screening in Health Units there are many problems that need to be resolved to achieve a satisfactory performance because there are problems with the delivery flow of collections and the return of results across the sector in Newborn Screening Specialties Center, an agency responsible for managing issues relating to the test in the city, and the Health Units urban and rural. There are gaps in the training of professionals that are being incorporated into the health care system and those who are already part of the teams in the Units and inadequate material resources to perform the test in a timely manner. The results indicate that the Guthrie Test is being conducted in all health units of the municipality beyond the Program meet surrounding regions, because testing is performed in children from other cities of the state. Most units have physical and human conditions of performing the screening test and can achieve a satisfactory performance, but it appears that there is a need to unify and enhance the Neonatal Screening Program in the entire network of the municipality which is a broad framework and collect complex where the test is just one step so it is necessary to contribute to a classification of the service providing a better quality of life for the whole society / A avaliação do Programa Municipal de Triagem Neonatal do município de Pelotas teve como foco o ano 2011 em virtude da facilidade em dispor dos dados, contribuir para a escolha de indicadores sociais úteis no processo de avaliação do Programa Municipal de Triagem Neonatal também conhecido como teste do pezinho, concentrando particularmente nos processos que influenciam as tomadas de decisão na sociedade e na Política Social, traçando um paralelo entre essas questões. Além disso, buscou-se analisar a relação entre a avaliação e indicadores, considerando a importância dessa combinação para as questões sociais. Obtevese uma amostra de 3.138 testes. A partir do instrumento desenvolvido para avaliação observa-se que a coleta oportuna ainda não está consolidada, pois há uma heterogeneidade entre as Unidades quanto às coletas dos testes sendo realizadas acima dos sete dias. Entre as patologias ocorre uma proporcionalidade com índices igual aos nacionais entre hipotireoidismo, fenilcetonúria e hemoglobinopatias. Das hemopatias analisadas a que prevaleceu foi o traço falciforme que para o município de Pelotas se apresenta, em uma relação de 50/3138. Na avaliação realizada entre os profissionais responsáveis pela Triagem Neonatal nas Unidades de Saúde há muitos problemas que precisam ser resolvidas para alcançar um desempenho satisfatório, pois ocorrem problemas com o fluxo de entrega das coletas bem como na devolução dos resultados entre o setor de Triagem Neonatal no Centro de Especialidades, órgão responsável por gerir as questões referentes ao teste no município, e as Unidades de Saúde urbana e rural. Há falhas nas capacitações dos profissionais que estão sendo incorporados ao sistema de saúde e entre os que já fazem parte das equipes nas Unidades e insuficiência dos recursos materiais para realização em tempo adequado do teste. Os resultados indicam que o Teste do Pezinho está sendo realizado em todas as Unidades de Saúde e hospitais do município além do Programa atender regiões circunvizinhas, pois é realizado teste em crianças de outras cidades do Estado. A maioria das Unidades possui condições físicas e humanas de realizar o teste do pezinho e conseguem alcançar um desempenho satisfatório, mas conclui-se que há necessidade de unificar e incrementar o Programa de Triagem neonatal em toda a rede do município que é uma estrutura ampla e complexa onde coletar o teste é apenas uma das etapas e por isso é necessário contribuir para uma qualificação do serviço proporcionando uma qualidade de vida melhor para toda sociedade
