  • The Global ETD Search service is a free service for researchers to find electronic theses and dissertations. This service is provided by the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations.
Our metadata is collected from universities around the world. If you manage a university/consortium/country archive and want to be added, details can be found on the NDLTD website.

Prevalence of and Differences in Salad Bar Implementation in Rural Versus Urban Arizona Schools

Blumenschine, Michelle 28 March 2018 (has links)
A Thesis submitted to The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Medicine. / Purpose: To compare the prevalence of school-lunch salad bars in Arizona and differences in implementation by rural vs. urban setting. Background•Individuals in rural settings are increasingly at risk for health disparities and experience a disproportionate burden of chronic conditions. •Fruit and vegetable (F&V) is linked with lower risk for chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. •Young people do not meet the recommended servings of F&V. •Salad bars are a recommended method to increase F&V intake, however there is limited evidence of their effectiveness. No studies exist that examine implementation of salad bars in urban versus rural environments.

On a mathematical model of a bar with variable rectangular cross-section

Jaiani, George January 1998 (has links)
Generalizing an idea of I. Vekua [1] who, in order to construct theory of plates and shells, fields of displacements, strains and stresses of threedimensional theory of linear elasticity expands into the orthogonal Fourier-series by Legendre Polynomials with respect to the variable along thickness, and then leaves only first N + 1, N = 0, 1, ..., terms, in the bar model under consideration all above quantities have been expanded into orthogonal double Fourier-series by Legendre Polynomials with respect to the variables along thickness, and width of the bar, and then first (Nsub(3) + 1)(Nsub(2) + 1), Nsub(3), Nsub(2) = 0, 1,..., terms have been left. This case will be called (Nsub(3), Nsub(2)) approximation. Both in general (Nsub(3), Nsub(2)) and in particular (0,0) (1,0) cases of approximation, the question of wellposedness of initial and boundary value problems, existence and uniqueness of solutions have been investigated. The cases when variable cross-section turns into segments of straight line, and points have been also considered. Such bars will be called cusped bars (see also [2]).

Experimental Study Of The Tide-Affecting Beach Profile Under Wave Action

Yen, Chieh-chiang 29 July 2009 (has links)
This study is based on restoration of Kinmen coast fishing village of hydraulic model test of a comparative analysis of the planned project, as a result of long-term by Kinmen County coast north-east monsoon and the impact of ocean currents. In recent years, many coastal erosion and land damage case of loss. In order to avoid continued erosion, Kinmen county government since starting in 1990 for rebuild seawall to protect the coast. This paper is mainly due to a new erosion of lake waters near the fishing village, and a result of Economic Planning and Development Council's request for a hydraulic model test and do the related planning and research. In order to achieve the purpose of beach erosion does not continue to be subject to planning. It can be found from previous research to study, the tidal effects of drift sand to the scene by investigate multi-based; and laboratories in order to describe the phenomenon of the different drift sand sharply degrees and to examine the different size. The purpose of this study is the tidal waves of the beach bed on the role, which will be part of tidal changes in water level simulation. Test results to a net drift of sand to make a comparative analysis of throughput and classified by Horikawa compared cross-section tank. The typhoon waves should be able to tell by the tidal waves but the bed is the rules of dramatic impacted. The monsoon is not much variance. In addition monsoon forecasting can be applied to multi-wave cross-section of the terrain slope changes. In addition it can be not exercised after the embankment of typhoon waves in Horikawa empirical section.
