The Analysis Of Children

Batirbek, Muge 01 September 2007 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis investigates the relationship between creative potential and the rhetorical structure of children&rsquo / s narratives. 44 middle school children (aged 12-15) were given a set of paper-pen activities including one divergent thinking test, one convergent thinking test and a story to be completed. Results of the divergent and convergent thinking tests were taken as the predictors to estimate the potential for creative thinking. Children were examined in terms of how they encode rhetorical relations in their writings. Whether a creative potential made a difference in children&rsquo / s writings in terms of rhetorical relations they used, and whether children within the same creative potential group used the same rhetorical relations in common were investigated. Rhetorical Structure Theory (RST) (Marcu, 2000 and Carlson and Marcu, 2001) was used in coding children&rsquo / s writings. It was found that children in the study interpreted story writing as an act of attribution. This result is contrary to Marcu et.al (1999b), who found the elaboration-additional relation as the most frequent relation in their corpora. The study also found that there was an inverse relationship between the convergent thinking scores and the number of satellites (an EDU (elementary discourse unit) playing an auxilliary role for a text in question) for the 7th graders. Finally, it was found that high quartile (highest scorers in the study, top 25%) convergent thinkers were able to construct a narrative element with few number of EDUs and few number of discourse relation types.

L'histoire dans le livre des médailles de Louis XIV (éditions de 1702 et de 1723) / The history in the book of medals of Louis the Fourteenth (The 1702 and 1723 editions)

Gagnon, Léa 09 December 2019 (has links)
Metallic history has led to a certain number of critical publications which have mainly focused on the numismatic value of the Petite Académie project, somehow moving away from the created book to concentrate on the metal. Although doser studies have recently been made of the book, its literary and historiographical dimension has seldom been raised. Thus The history in the book of medals of Louis the Fourteenth has corne into being. Therefore, this study intends to place the academicians work in a traditional historiographical context where antique codes prevail. The book clearly takes its inspiration from them while toying with them, magnifying or ruling them out depending on what they could bring to the glory of absolutism. The importance of the writers in this collective work should also be mentioned. They will progressively be moved aside as printing time gets doser. The institutionai framework will be pushed in the background, behind the king. However, it remains eue that the debates conducted within the minutes show the individuality of each writer at the origin of the creation. Finally, as the making of the book is based on a certain number of reforms and pre-established rules, its evolution will be explained. In Tact, the writing principles endure from the manuscripts to the publications and yet they may evolve into new ways of expression as the writing proceeds. Despite everything they may contradict one another in their application and have then to prove adaptable.

Koumar, Jan January 2020 (has links)
This works deals with ethics of sexuality in the chosen canonical works of the Euro- American Belles-Lettres literature. It tries to concentrate on the changes of the preferred bases which ethics of sexuality is based on, furthermore it analyses the expressed ethical stances and finally it emphasises some sexual-ethical themes, which appeared in the analysed books. The emphasis is put on the different nature of two ethical layers: shared customs and individual morality, which can radically differ from the prevailing customs, protest against them or expand them further. Based on 42 canonical works, this work names and described 7 possible approaches to the ethics of sexuality and 7 ethical topics which were recurrently appearing in the analysed books.

Reflexe soumraku Britského impéria ve vybraných dílech anglicky psané krásné literatury / The Reflection of the Twilight of the British Empire in the Selected Works of the English Belles-Lettres

Banasinský, Vít January 2012 (has links)
In the British Empire many revolutionary changes took place from the 1850s. In my thesis I focused on the analysis of those issues and phenomena which are sufficiently reflected in the English-language belles-lettres, along with a comparison of topics in a historical context in those thematic areas where the comparison is possible, but even in those where possibility of feedback is missing. Given the specificity of the whole work is an introduction and conclusion concerns the question of literary texts as a study of sources. The aim is to answer the question whether the use of belles-lettres as a source in this particular topic is possible, and if so, under what conditions.
