Epigrafické památky vnitřního města Českých Budějovic do roku 1900. / Epigraphical monuments of the central city of České Budějovice.

The thesis deals with epigraphical monuments of central city of České Budějovice up to 1900 and at the same time it tries to acquaint with the history of the city with the intention to medieval times and with its system of fortification. The thesis is divided to nine chapters. The history of medieval city of České Budějovice is described in the first chapter. The second chapter deals with city fortifications from its beginning to the present. The third chapter brings a summary of studies which deal with making accessible of the epigraphical monuments. The fourth chapter is about territory which determines the catalogue accessed area. Detailed catalogue principles which are used in the epigraphical catalogue, structure of particular catalogue records and classification of the epigraphical material are presented in next chapters of the thesis. The eighth chapter is the main part of this work. The catalogue brings 127 epigraphical inscriptions, both extant up to the present and also not extant which are situated in the determinate area. Last chapter contains indices which should make work with the catalogue easier. The conclusion summarizes the gained findings. List of sources and bibliography follow. The appendices conclude the thesis.

Zpracování periodik v ČR a v zahraničí, vývoj směrem k RDA pravidlům / Processing of periodicals in the Czech Republic and abroad, a move towards RDA rules

The aim of this work is to evaluate the current procedures and to indicate the development of the cataloging practice towards the RDA rules based on research and analysis of bibliographic production serials in selected Czech and foreign libraries. The diploma thesis is divided into several chapters. After introducing the issue of serial documents follows the chapter devoted to the standards and resources for cataloging the continuing resources that the catalogers should know. The next chapter deals with the FRBR and its application to the serials. Part of the chapter dealing with RDA rules from the serials perspective is also the analysis of these rules according to the FRBR structure available in the RDA Toolkit. Three chapters are devoted to the analysis of bibliographic processing, first in foreign libraries, then in Czech libraries, and in the last chapter there is a comparison of selected periodicals in foreign and Czech libraries. At the end of the thesis are presented the impacts of application of the FRBR model and RDA rules on serials cataloging. Atributy vyjádření a provedení - realita v souborných katalozích versus informační potřeby uživatelů / Attributes of expression and manifestation - reality in library catalogs vs. information needs of users

The aim of the thesis is to explore which attributes of expression and attributes of manifestation are commonly found in bibliographic records and compare them with the information needs of users. The research is focused on the Union catalog of the Czech Republic - CASLIN. In the theoretical part there are presented problems with attributes of expression and attributes of manifestation in model FRBR. In the research part there was performed content analysis of several bibliographic records owing to problems of attributes of expression and attributes of manifestation. In the research section there was made the analysis of information needs of users, too. As qualitative research methods were selected observation of participants and semi-structured interviews with respondents. The result of this thesis should be a comparison between reality in library catalogs and information needs of users.

Zhudebněná poezie J.V.Sládka s bibliografií skladeb / J.V.Sládek poems set to music supplemented with a bibliography of pieces

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of setting the poems of Josef Václav Sládek to music. The main source of the analyzed data is a bibliographic list of compositions, which was compiled after my own research in the databases and catalogues of the National Library of Czech Republic, the Municipal Library in Prague and Czech Museum of Music, as well as in specialised literature. The first chapter briefly summarizes the general principles of setting poetry to music and then it focuses on particular aspects of Sládek's poetics, which encourage composers to set his poems to music. The first chapter also outlines Sládek's poetics in different poetry collections. The second chapter gives a detailed analysis of the compiled bibliographic list of compositions in terms of the frequency in which particular poems have been set to music, the number of works composed by different authors, vocal and instrumental cast, and also time contexts. The third, and the most comprehensive chapter, is divided in accordance with the proposed semantically significant thematic areas of Sládek's poetic work - love poetry, poetry for children, peasantism and folk echo poetry and militantpatriotism.
