Potravinová bezpečnost a trh s biopalivy / Biofuels and food safety

Štěpničková, Zuzana January 2011 (has links)
The aim is to draw attention to an inefficient allocation of resources and capital, which has resulted in rising food prices and the high number of hungry people in developing coutries, which European and U.S. subsidy policy does nt accumulate capital and invest in their production. I focused on the prices of raw materials for biofuel production in connection with legislative obligations and CO2 emissions, including the impact of indirect land use changes (ILUC) and based on searches draw conclusions from primary studies that deal with macroeconomic modeling. This thesis confirmed the hypothesis that the current agricultural policy on biofuels does not comply with the theory of comparative advantage of growing food where it is advatageous both economically and environmentally.

Využití kaplných biopaliv pro energetické zásobování areálu Technická 2 / Utilizing of liquide biofuels for energy supply in the complex Technicka 2

Kopecký, Jakub January 2010 (has links)
Theme of this thesis is utilizing of liquide biofuels for energy supply in the complex Technicka 2. This work is divided into three parts. The first part dealt with the issue of liquid biofuels, both globally and within the Czech Republic. In the next part are noted technologies for heating, power and cooling of of liquid biofuels. In the third part is noted evaluation of using cogeneration unit from Seva, a.g. for komplex Technicka 2 in different types of traffic.

Využití paliv z obnovitelných zdrojů a odpadů / The use of fuels from renewable sources and waste

Pořízek, Vít January 2015 (has links)
The main theme of this thesis is available and potential gaseous and liquid alternative biofuels made from biomass and waste. The thesis deals with their detailed description and comparison. The first part covers the basic distribution of biofuels and alternative fuels made from waste. The main part focuses then on the fuels themselves, their properties, production, use and environmental impact. Furthermore, thesis describes legislative issues and fuels are compared from different perspectives. Practical part includes testing of combustion of liquid fuels taken from waste sources. In the next chapters there is executed overview of basic atomization method of liquid fuels and a plan and running of the testing processed. Evaluation of results is based on point of view of suitability for use, the quality of combustion and emission limits.

Impacts of Ethanol Policy on Corn Prices: A Meta-Analysis / Impacts of Ethanol Policy on Corn Prices: A Meta-Analysis

Horáček, Přemysl January 2017 (has links)
Deflecting a significant portion of corn production to ethanol for fuelling purposes increases the prices of corn. Although many studies examined the relationship between biofuels and agricultural commodity prices in the last decade, their estimates vary broadly (from nil to 85%). Without knowing the precise estimates of these impacts, policymakers can hardly set the biofuel policies optimally. I conduct a meta-analysis of over 150 estimates of the effect of corn ethanol production on corn prices to bring more clarity to the issue. Furthermore, I detect substantial selective reporting bias in the literature. After controlling for this bias with the use of various methods including the mixedeffects multilevel model, the results show that the true effect of a one billion gallon expansion in corn ethanol on corn prices is about 2-3%, which is less than commonly thought.

BIOPALIVA – PŘÍČINY A DŮSLEDKY ZAVEDENÍ / BIOFUELS - REASONS AND CONSEQUENCES OF ITS INTRODUCTION

Bogdanov, Igor January 2013 (has links)
The thesis aims to analyze the economic and environmental consequences of the regulation to mandatorily blend bio-components into the fuel and prove its inefficiency. The theoretical part summarizes in detail the reasons of introducing the regulation, including the legislative framework, and generational evolution of biofuels. The analytical part uses statistical analysis of time series and price and efficiency indices to evaluate the effectiveness of biofuels in relation to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The impact of the introduction of biofuels on the economy is specified through fuel prices. The impact on engines as well as food prices and social environment is also mentioned.

Biofuels in Russian Federation, Ukraine and Belarus: current status and future prospects / Biopaliva v Ruské federaci, Ukrajině a Bělorusku: současný stav a výhled do budoucnosti

Stankus, Elena January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of diploma thesis is to provide an overview of biofuels market in Russian Federation, Belarus and Ukraine and estimate prospects of future development. First chapter characterizes biofuels in regard of the feedstock and further utilization. Next part of the thesis describes development of biofuel industry in the key selected countries and analyses current trends on the global market. Next three sections review Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian sectors of biofuels including feedstock potential, supportive policies, strategies, international collaboration and issues in biofuel production, distribution and consumption in each country. Last section of the thesis investigates potential from exported raw materials and its contribution to achievement of established targets with the following outlook for the future development.

Měření a toxicita nanočástic ze spalovacích procesů / Measurement and toxicity of combustion generated nanoparticles

Sikorová, Jitka January 2020 (has links)
This thesis is focused on nanoparticles produced by internal combustion engines utilized in vehicles. It deals with spatial distribution of nanoparticles within urban areas, impact of alternative fuels usage on particle production and toxicity, and a particle toxicological testing methodology. Monitoring of airborne nanoparticles identified traffic as the main source of airborne nanoparticles in places with heavy traffic load (Prague), as well as in a small city with only local traffic (Čelákovice). Most particles were likely emitted during short episodes of high emissions (e.g. uphill acceleration). During the measurements, high-emission vehicles responsible for a large fraction of the air pollution were also identified. On the other hand, small non-road internal combustion engines, which are not subject to any limit on particle emissions, such as a lawn mower, were operated during the measurement and generated a large number of nanoparticles. The amount and characteristics of the particles produced by combustion depend on the combustion technology and the fuel composition. A large part of the thesis deals with alternative fuels and their effects on the quantity of produced particles and toxicity of organic matter adsorbed on the particles. Hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) exhibited the lowest...

Potrava vs. palivo: role bioenergie / Food vs. Fuel: The Role of Bioenergy

Filip, Ondřej January 2015 (has links)
This thesis studies the relationship between the first generation biofuels and selected commodities and assets in the USA, Europe, and Brazil. It is the first attempt to combine the taxonomy and wavelet analyses in a single research application. Our unique dataset comprises 32 weekly price series covering the 2003--2015 time period. First, we employ a method of minimum spanning trees and hierarchical trees to model a biofuel-related price network. We demonstrate a development phase shift between Brazilian and the US/EU biofuel industries. We reveal a strong and stable connection between Brazilian ethanol and its main production factor, local sugarcane. We further find that US ethanol is closely linked to corn. In the contrary, European biodiesel exhibits only moderate ties to its production factors. Subsequent wavelet analysis scrutinizes the identified price connections both in time and frequency domains. Both Brazilian and US ethanols are found to be positively related to their respective feedstock commodities. In particular, feedstock proves to lead the price of the biofuel and not vice versa. Moreover, the dynamics remains qualitatively unchanged when controlled for the influence of crude oil.
