Šikana na pracovišti. / Harassment in the workplace

My master's degree thesis concerns with bullying in the workplace, which is long-lasting psychological terror of employees. For the bullying in the workplace, there are two specific terms used in Czech language, mobbing and bossing, according to a person, who is causer of bullying in the workpace. If the aggressor is a collegue of a victim of the bullying, we speak about mobbing. If the victim is bullied by his or her boss, we use the term bossing. My thesis is divided into two main parts, the theoretical part with the description of the problem of bulling in the workplace and the research, which was made by question-form. The theoretical part is composed of four chapters. Chapter one deals with bullying in general, its causes and with terminology used for bullying in the workplace. The second chapter describes mobbing, its typical features, causes, phases and illustrates personalities of aggressor and his or her victim. It also makes recommendation for prevention of mobbing, gives advice, how to defend against mobbing and provides examples of typical attacks. Harassment in the workplace Abstract This diploma thesis concerns harassment in labor relations. I deal with problems of mobbing, bossing and sexual harassment in the workplace. The aim is to analyze the overall legal regulation of these problems, including the case law of the Czech courts. Two chapters are also devoted to the defense against these undesirable behaviors. The work takes into account the legal regulation of constitutional, civil, labor, criminal and administrative law. In the area of sexual harassment, not only the Czech legislation but also the regulation of this problem in the Slovak Republic were taken into account. This work is divided into seven chapters. In these chapters, the basic terms are explained and the terms mobbing, bossing are explained. Also there is defense against these undesirable behaviors. The third is to clarify the concept of sexual harassment and subsequent defense. The most important is the analysis of these problems under Czech legislation and in the concept of sexual harassment also a comparison of Czech and Slovak legislation. Člověk člověku - Studie mobbingu, bossingu a staffingu ve zdravotnickém zařízení / A Man to a Man - A Study of Mobbing, Bossing and Staffing in a Medical Facility

The thesis deals with mobbing, bossing and staffing in a workplace and its occurrence in a selected medical facility. In its theoretical part, the thesis defines the common and different features of these pathological phenomena. It includes a list of research findings from studies conducted in the Czech Republic, and those carried out in the Czech healthcare. In its experimental part, the thesis describes a questionnaire survey, aiming to establish awareness of these issues, personal experience with them in the selected workplace, people's responses and ways of dealing with them, as well as changes occurring in victims of psychological terror. It also establishes staff satisfaction in the medical facility.The survey findings may not be extrapolated to the entire medical facility, yet it shows occurrence of the pathological phenomena in the particular workplace. The survey identified two victims of mobbing who do not know how to deal with their situation, who they could approach to get help, or how to defend themselves. In conclusion, specific managerial measures are listed.

The objective of this thesis is to introduce negative phenomena in the workplace, specify various forms in which they occur (such as mobbing, bossing, bullying and sexual harassment), define the related terms and find factors which affect the desirable environment within a company as well as the occurrence of the negative factors. The contribution of the practical part of the thesis lies in the analysis of a survey which is focused on the existence of individual phenomena and on determining the strengths and weaknesses of a labour-law relation based on an evaluation of the relation between importance and satisfaction. The thesis concludes by summarizing the general principles of preventive approaches to the occurrence of negative phenomena, and by specifying the roles of individual levels of the company's management.

Bullying in the intensive care units. The main mission of this thesis is to describe an issue called mobbing. The primary target is to get information about rate of bullying in the intensive care units in south Bohemia, especially in Prachatice and Strakonice city and to know how many percent of employees / paramedics of the intensive care units were already touched by bullying. This kind of information we got by anonymous questionnaires, set up from 23 questions with open and closed form. In theoretical part I deal with actual status, explaining term of mobbing, bossing, causes of bullying, characteristic of the participants, bullying in the health service in the Czech republic. In the conclusion I show prevention and tolerance of mobbing and bossing. In practical part I point on assesment of hypothesis and evaluation of the target of my thesis. I suppose that the chicane show up in small measure on the workplace of the intensive care units. From my point of view I think that women working in the intensive care units are getting in a touch of bullying much more than men. In this part I want to show a methodology of research, parameter of complex and evaluation of research. In conclusion I get back to evaluation of research and starting a discussion. Problematika diskriminace v pracovním prostředí / Problems of discrimination in working environment

This thesis deals with the current issue of discrimination in the workplace, especially focuses on discrimination based on age and sex, sexual harassment and bullying in the workplace, legislation that regulates the area of discrimination in labor relations. The theoretical section includes explanations of terms and connections to a given focus and the practical part includes a probe into five large companies examining whether the effects mentioned in the theoretical part actually occur in practice, or how these problems are solved. This probe was in the form of semi-structured interview respondents in their workplaces. The results confirmed the claim that one of the most vulnerable group are women. Larger companies are trying to provide them a variety of advantages as for example flexible-time work, etc. Some companies have confirmed that there were some cases of bullying or sexual harassment in their firm, but these situations have not been solved other than by the dismissal of one of the participants. However, the occurrence of age discrimination was in the surveyed companies not confirmed - despite the theoretical claims and personal experience. A systematic study was made, using as an example an area denominated Cercado, situated on top of the Serra do Cigano, following the horse trail that leads to the San Francisco River. The study seeks to reconstruct the history of the colonization of that region, strongly marked by despotism, materialized through the phenomena of bossing and coerced votes. From the local residents, tales of the fight for existence and life maintenance in that region were retrieved. Eminently verbal, the narratives were based on the memory of those still in the region and others that have left. The social relations reproduction process under the shelter of the merchant world has brought serious consequences to the rural communities of the Chapada Diamantina plateau which live in a mere subsistence agrarian economy, degrading their way of life and not rarely leading to their dissolution. The continual struggle of these people in search of ways to satisfy their needs promotes solidary practices that make viable to live in the semiarid nature, although this does not guarantee the preservation of their ways of life in the face of the transformations generated by modern times. As a consequence of the difficulties imposed by the disarticulation process, the singularity of their life experience makes them active historical agents in their settlement, in working the land, in putting together their tasks and in the resistance to maintain their knowledge about medicinal plants, folklore costumes and their religiousness / Esta tese objetiva compreender o processo de ameaça de desarticulação e dissolução de comunidades do semi-árido da Chapada Diamantina. Foi feito estudo sistemático tomando como exemplo uma localidade denominada Cercado, situada no topo da Serra do Cigano, às margens da trilha cavaleira que dá acesso ao rio São Francisco. O estudo procura reconstruir a história do processo de povoamento da região, fortemente marcado pelo coronelismo materializado através dos fenômenos de mandonismo e voto de cabresto. Junto com seus moradores, recupera narrativas sobre a história da luta pela existência e manutenção da vida no lugar. De cunho eminentemente oral, as narrativas foram viabilizadas a partir da memória dos que lá vivem e também dos que migraram. O processo de reprodução das relações sociais, sob a égide do mundo da mercadoria, tem trazido sérias conseqüências para as comunidades rurais da Chapada Diamantina que vivem numa economia agrária de subsistência, degradando seu modo de vida e, não raro, conduzindo para sua dissolução.
