Denna rapport innehåller en redogörelse för mitt examensarbete, Charlie åkerkarusell, som gjordes vid Carl Malmsten – Furniture Studies, LinköpingsUniversitet, våren 2012. I mitt arbete undersöker jag hur man kan serietillverkaen liten produkt med hjälp av mallar och fixturer anpassade för film och hur mandokumenterar processen med hjälp av film. Jag har tittat på olika filmer som rörämnet och olika typer av mallar för att sedan formge en liten figur vid namnCharlie, som serietillverkades i en serie av 30 stycken. Jag utförde några avmomenten i serietillverkningen med hjälp av en typ mall som jag konstruerade.Mallen, som jag valt att kalla för karusellmall, är inte den mest rationella men ärdäremot betydligt mer spännande och spektakulär än en traditionell mall. Därföranser jag att karusellmallen lämpar sig bättre för filmdokumentation. Jag haräven skapat en film som visar hur min produkt tillverkas med hjälp av minkarusellmall. / This thesis contains a description of my degree project, Charlie Rides the MerryGo Round, which was made at Carl Malmsten ‐ Furniture Studies, LinköpingUniversity in the spring of 2012. In my work I examine how to mass‐produce asmall product with new variations on templates and fixtures, and how todocument the process with film. I have looked at various films related to thetopic and various types of templates and then design a small figure namedCharlie that was produced in a series of 30 pieces. I carried out some of the stepsin the series production with the help of a type of template that I designed. Thetemplate, which I decided to call a merry go round template, is not the mostrational but is much more exciting and spectacular than a traditional template. Itherefore believe that the merry go round template is more suitable forfilmmaking. I have also created a film showing how my product is manufacturedwith the help of my merry go round template.

Uppsatsen har haft som mål att skapa förståelse för hur hashtagkampanjen #JeSuisCharlie komatt användas på den sociala medieplattformen Twitter efter attacken mot satirtidskriften CharlieHebdo i Paris, den 7 januari 2015. Med kritisk diskursanalys som metod har vi sökt studera påvilka sätt vissa twittrare använde sig av kampanjen och hur de identifierade sig med Charlie.Charlie Hebdo kom för vissa twittrare att bli en symbol för det fria ordet, men det fanns även desom inte ville ställa sig bakom Charlie Hebdos budskap. Vi har därför också sökt analysera detavståndstagande som formulerades mot kampanjen bland vissa twittrare. Detta till följd av dereflektioner som uppstod över att så många valde att identifiera sig med en tidning som tidigarekritiserats för att vara islamofobisk. Analysen visar hur #JeSuisCharlie därmed kom att bli entvetydig och komplex symbol för yttrandefrihet, som också bidrog till att reproducerakonfliktlinjer mellan det demokratiska ”Väst” och de muslimska ”Andra”.

Putting Makeup on Dead People is a collection of ten short stories narrated by Donna that relate key moments in her life from early childhood through her mid-thirties. Because of the author's belief in the circularity of time and of what makes up human identity (what we do, what happens to us, to whom we are related), the stories do not progress chronologically. The collection pays particular attention to Donna's relationship with key family members: her father Nicky, her mother Martha, her Uncle Lou, her Aunt Selena, and her siblings, Linnie and B. Many of the stories also attend to Donna's relationship with Charlie, the man who finally becomes her husband. Through these stories of one woman's life, this collection explores themes of loss, healing, and personal growth. Ultimately, this work encapsulates one person's discovery of her core identity, underneath and in addition to all of the layers added to that core, through relationships, life experiences, successes, and failures.

Selling the American Dream: The Comic Underdog in American Film

Placing archetypal "underdogs" or "losers" in the roles of protagonists allows and encourages the viewer to identify with them or understand them as an idealized Other, though the audience may differ from the failure protagonist in social class, gender, or any other condition. In film, one of the most persuasive and ubiquitous media of the 20th century, underdog and weakling characters germinated in early popular comedies such as those by Charlie Chaplin and the other silent clowns. Using Chaplin's filmography to illustrate the underdog's ironic supremacy, this thesis aims to unravel the initial values and expectations inherent in Hollywood underdog comedy films, trace these components to their paradoxical political and economic roots, and draw conclusions on their social and economic consequences.
