The acute effects of moderate intensity circuit weight training on lipid-lipoprotein profiles

Lee, Young-soo 31 May 1990 (has links)
Few studies have examined the acute effects of resistive-type exercise on lipid-lipoprotein profiles. This study examined the acute effects of a single session of circuit weight training (CWT) on plasma lipid-lipoprotein profiles: triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and the ratio of TC to HDL-C. The subjects in the study were 17 healthy, nonsmoking male university students, ages of 18-25 years, enrolled in weight lifting classes. Subjects were required to fast overnight (at least 12 hours) before CWT. Subjects repeated a four-station weight training circuit three times, with a resistance determined by their individual 3 repetition maximum (3-RM). The stations were bench press, parallel squat, leg extension, and seated row. Blood samples were drawn from the antecubital vein at pre-CWT, completion of the 1st and 3rd circuits, and 15 min post-CWT. All concentrations of plasma lipid and lipoprotein cholesterol were corrected for plasma volume changes. A repeated measures ANOVA was used to determine if significant differences existed among mean values for the dependent variables (i.e., levels of TG, TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, and TC/HDL-C ratio at specified time points). Results of the study indicated that plasma TC and HDL-C levels were changed significantly during and following CWT. However, the change was not in the anticipated direction: Plasma TC and HDL-C levels were lower at completion of the 1st circuit of CWT (p<0.05). The ratios of TC to HDL-C were changed significantly, reflecting a decrease in HDL-C during CWT and a slight increase in HDL-C at 15 min post-CWT. Plasma TG and LDL-C levels were not changed significantly during CWT or 15 min post-CWT. It was concluded that apparent changes in lipoprotein patterns occur during short-term moderate intensity CWT and return to pre-CWT levels in a relatively short time. / Graduation date: 1991

Podnikatelský plán: Možnosti rozvoje projektu Brutal Kruháč / Business Plan: Development opportunities of project Brutal Kruháč

Jirgle, Jakub January 2013 (has links)
Title: Business Plan: Development opportunities of project Brutal Kruháč Goals: The main goal of this thesis is to develop a business plan that will help further develop the project Brutal kruháč. Another goal is the elaboration of a business plan analyses necessary to determine the development opportunities of the project. Methods: Literature review and description of the analyzed documents were used to build a business plan. Furthermore, the method of survey, observation, analysis and comparison was used when compiling marketing and financial plan. Results: Results of the analyses show that the project is profitable and it makes sense to expand it further. Following the findings in this work the project is to be moved to its own gym in Prague, there will be extension in the number of lessons and expansion to Brno. These steps for further development of the project will be supported by an effective marketing promotion. Keywords: Business plan, circuit training, financial planning, promotion, development

The Retentive Aspects of Selected Qualities of Fitness as a Function of Inactivity in College Men

Poteet, John R. 05 1900 (has links)
The purposes of this study were to (a) investigate the physiological changes produced in college men after a nine-week circuit training and jogging conditioning program, (b) analyze the effects of deconditioning periods of four, six, and eight weeks upon the physical fitness of college men, and (c) compare the developmental and retentive aspects of muscular strength, muscular endurance, circulo-respiratory endurance, and skinfold measurements. Pearson Product-Moment correlations of pre-test measures, post-test measures, differences between pre-test and post-test measures, and differences between post-test and respective retention test measures did not identify any consistent pattern of developmental or retentive relationships. The components of fitness tended to develop and deteriorate independently of each other.

Podnikatelský záměr nového konceptu kruhových tréninků / Business plan about new concept of circuit training

Nikitinová, Věra January 2013 (has links)
This work is divided into two main parts, the theoretical-methodological and practical part. In the first part I discussed the topics related to the business. The greatest emphasis is placed on explaining the business plan and its individual parts. The first part ends with an explanation of the possible way of protecting your business identity. The practical part deals with the specific field -- about setting up the business and business develompent of "circuit training". Within different parts of a business plan I am trying to show the beginning and development of this project and trying to demonstrate how can just only the idea - "doing what we do different and better for our clients" - become a successful business plan.
