Can architecture ease the departure of people and their loved ones and remove or at least alleviate the stigmatization and taboo of death? The aim of this work is to design an ideal space for palliative care. The aim is not to design another hospice, or home for the elderly people, which has been designed and built more or less enough (see Analytical section). The task I set out was to accommodate this space on the basis of its broad context, to focus on the right urban location, operational content, relationships with and around, linking, opening, ... but also the very idea of death, leaving parting. The theme of palliative care is very complex and societal, which is reflected in its own design, which represents a new model of palliative care architecture. Palliative Care Center.

The thesis is based on the recurring proposal to create a main axis Výstaviště (Anthropos) — Mendelovo náměstí — Nádraží. Foundations for the proposal are revised conceptual materials based on architectural design public tender „ Mendlovo náměstí, Urbanisticko – architektonická vyzvaná jednofázová ideová soutěž “ and architectural study created by Kuba & Pilař architekti s.r.o. The objective of the thesis is to complete important urbanistic axis and recultivation, reformalization and reconstruction of the structure and substance of the city and related public space. The task is to create a solution of given area near Mendlovo máměstí with emphasis on representative character, correlation with existing degraded city structure and objects related with in the form of renewal, modification and completion of the current block with mainly commercial and residential function and character corresponding to its central location.

The society is going through transformations in several dimensions at the same time. The energy system is moving towards renewables and reduced resource intensity. Market structures are gradually changing, and new actors emerge to compete with incumbents. Digitization creates fundamentally new conditions for everyone. Cities are being reimagined and are driving much of the transformation. Energy optimization becomes a heated topic for the whole society. This thesis research collaborated with the company SWECO Energy Strategies group investigates one part of energy optimization: proposing different possible scenarios of combining different types of buildings in a city block to urban designers and real estate company. The objective of this research is to find out the suitable combinations leading to an evener and lower demand profile from the perspectives of energy supply and the grid. This thesis project will try different methods to identify the most promising combination of various functioned buildings and develop a new methodology to solve the similar cases. A city block with either several types of building or single type of building can have an even and low energy profile. Moreover, there isn’t a definite relationship between the flatness of energy profile and the correlated amount of total demand. In this project, different scenarios are created and tested by the assistance of Python programing language and Solver installed in Excel. Through a series of tests and analysis, the best case is found with the most area of residential buildings. Qualitatively economic analysis is done, proving that an even energy profile is conducive to the cost-saving. Through the conducted case study, a general methodology is developed, which facilitates urban designers to design similar projects to some extent in the future.

The main objective of my diploma projest was to develop a comprehensive proposal for a town house at the intersection.This project detail design undeveloped parcel. The parcel stopping mainly apartment buildings and continues in the character of the street.

The topic of my diploma thesis is an urbanistic and architectural study of the reconstruction of a city block near Masaryk Square in Kyjov. The block is located between the main square and the bus station. Currently, some parts of the block are used not enough or not used at all. The urbanistic study deals with the completion of the block and the creation of new public spaces with a newly designed traffic road. The architectural study deals with the study of an apartment building with parking next to the Panorama cinema in the western part of the city block. The aim of the proposal is to complete the gap, rebuild and return the housing function to the city center.

This project deals with the completion of a city block in the Brno city center and proposes an apartment building design for an in-fill on Francouzská street. The principles of the design are founded on the pillars of sustainable development. The proposed building will offer spacious rental apartments for families in a close proximity to the historical city center.

My suggestion is trying to return to the receptive urban spaces, pedestrian trying to return to center stage, allowing them free movement and return them to healthy urban public spaces. But it also does not deny the need for transport, restrict it, but based on her wishes.

The chosen locality of the diploma project is situated in the centre of Brno, on the edge of the historical part of the city. It borders on the main green belt and the biggest city park Lužánky. The analyzed block is unique because of its oversize and its composition. However, objects in a courtyard contrasts to the representative town houses on the perimeter. They appear very unordered; it is not possible to walk through this part of the city. The secondary functions, like storages and on-ground parking, are located there. The greenness is not maintained. The objects split the courtyard into not specified and separated spaces, which are even complicated by sloping topography. Nowadays the block makes a barrier in the city structure. The main values of the courtyard are its location, size and calm atmosphere. The potential of the site is possible to use for a proposal of a high-quality dwelling complex. The proposed structure is designed on a linear base, it correspondents to the shape of the chosen site. It creates also public and semiprivate open spaces, which can serve for the new inhabitants. The simple look of the new structure seems to be in harmony with the existing buildings. Even more, the open character of the proposal cultivates the entire block and improves the city structure.

nÃo hà / A dissertaÃÃo apresenta uma anÃlise das dimensÃes do construto âcomprometimento com o trabalhoâ no contexto profissional dos policiais militares do Cearà vinculados ao Programa Ronda do QuarteirÃo. A identificaÃÃo das dimensÃes psicolÃgicas relacionadas foi averiguada de acordo com a percepÃÃo dos policiais quanto à sua prÃtica profissional a partir da aplicaÃÃo de escala validada e realizaÃÃo de grupo focal. O objetivo principal foi caracterizar o comprometimento no trabalho a partir da percepÃÃo dos prÃprios policiais, na tentativa de analisar sua relaÃÃo com a sua prÃtica profissional em paralelo a uma problematizaÃÃo da proposta do policiamento comunitÃrio do Ronda do QuarteirÃo. A amostra de pesquisa se concentrou em policiais do Ronda que se voluntariaram a responder a Escala e alguns em participar presencialmente de um grupo focal cujo intuito era de compreender melhor as variÃveis relacionadas com a categoria central do estudo. Foi utilizada tambÃm a Escala Hexadimensional, que diferencia o tipo de comprometimento a partir de seis dimensÃes psicolÃgicas proposta por ArmÃnio Rego, adaptada para uma versÃo digitalizada no Google Forms. As informaÃÃes coletadas foram tratadas mediante estatÃstica descritiva simples e tabulaÃÃo de dados com uso do software SPSS. Os dados coletados no grupo focal foram transcritos e interpretados a partir do cruzamento com dados quantitativos. Com base nos resultados quantitativos, encontraram-se nÃveis baixos em todas as dimensÃes do comprometimento. Os dados qualitativos confirmaram tal informaÃÃo por considerarem a prÃtica muito distante das propostas de policiamento comunitÃrio que utilizam como modelo, este advindo de prÃticas internacionais que diferem bastante da cultura cearense. Conclui-se que o contexto de trabalho dos policiais do Ronda apresenta caracterÃsticas que impactam negativamente num maior comprometimento do tipo afetivo, por apresentar uma grande lacuna entre o objetivo e a filosofia do Ronda e a prÃtica policial. Os policiais do Ronda se veem criticados e ameaÃados por uma questÃo de seguranÃa pÃblica que julgam envolver instÃncias muito maiores do que eles, fato que os desmotiva com sua profissÃo antes tÃo sonhada. No mais, os achados da pesquisa e anÃlises contribuem para aumentar o nÃvel conceitual da psicologia dentro do campo investigado, bem como abre possibilidade de estudos futuros com objetivos voltados à intervenÃÃo e reflexÃo sobre a formaÃÃo policial e o sofrimento psÃquico desta categoria profissional que se encontra em expansÃo. / The present work is an analysis of the dimensions of the construct "commitment at work" in the context of military professional officers linked to the Cearà City Block Patrol Program. The identification of the related psychological dimensions was determined according to the perception of these military professional officersâ practices by the application of a scale and by the conduction of a focus group. The main objective was to characterize the work commitment from the perception of the police themselves, in order to analyze their relationship with their professional practice in parallel to a questioning of the proposed model of community policing âRonda do QuarteirÃo â City Block Patrolâ. The survey sample focused on the City Block Patrol members who volunteered to answer the scale and to take part in a focus group, which aimed to improve the comprehension of the variables related to the core category of the study. It was also applied a six dimension scale, that differentiates the type of commitment in six psychological dimensions as proposed by Rego in a digital version in Google Forms, The data were treated by simple descriptive statistics though the SPSS software, while the data collected in the focus group were transcribed and interpreted and liked to those collected by the quantitative approach. Based on the quantitative results, we found low levels in all dimensions of commitment concerning the applied scale. Qualitative data confirmed that information regarding the low job satisfaction indicated by professional. There is though a gap between the professional practices and the proposed model of community model of intervention by the police, which has its origins in other cultures. It is possible to conclude that the context of the work of the City Block Patrol has negative traits that can prevent an improvement of the affective nature of commitment, by presenting a wide gap between the goal and philosophy of City Block Patrol Model and their actual practices. They feel themselves criticized by reference members of the Program as well as threatened by them, what can discourages them in a curate and previously intended working practice. The research findings could also contribute to increase the conceptual appliance of Psychology within the investigated field and open the possibility for future studies focusing intervention and reflection on police training and psychological health issues in this occupational expanding category.

The residential area in Brno - Červený kopec is multifunctional new part of the city of Brno. Urban development based on the Žlutý kopec and Veveří. Historically, the studied area is located at the brickyard Kohn, who is now a brownfield site. The idea was to create a readable and clearly definable urban structure in relation to the proposed road network. The core area is dense five-storey mixed-use residential buildings with commercial parterre, which makes maximum use of space and brings order to the scattered houses in the area.
