Previous issue date: 2008-02-26 / The corn is the main cereal produced in Brazil and its productivity is very
affected by the improper use of nitrogen, which is the nutrient absorbed in larger quantities
and therefore responsible for a significant share in production costs. Due to the importance
of nitrogen for the corn crop becomes necessary studies to reduce the amount of nitrogen
applied to the crop, reducing losses and increasing the efficiency of its use, beside
minimize environmental risks. One way have been studied to reduce the amount of
nitrogen applied and increase the efficiency of use of inorganic nitrogen, from the
fertilizer, it is the combination of plants that cover the ground with nitrogened fertilizer.
The study aimed to determine the economic viability and the effect of soil management
with the use of soil cover plants, hybrids and nitrogen doses in coverage in the vegetative
and reproductive characteristics, related to productivity of corn. The corn, in the
experiment, was planted at begning of February in the field trial of Embrapa Arroz e
Feijão, Red Latosol Distrophic. The experimental design was a randomized complete block
with three replicates the arrangement of plots in sub-sub-divided. The plots were formed
by four types of soil management: direct planting of corn on the black mucuna stubble
(Mucuna aterrima Merr.); direct planting of corn on the of crotalária juncea stubble
(Crotalaria juncea L.); direct planting of corn on vegetation spontaneous (aside) and
planting corn in the system of conventional tillage (arado of aiveca). The subplots were
formed by five doses of nitrogen in coverage: 0, 45, 90, 180 and 360 kg ha-1 of nitrogen in
coverage, and the sub-sub-plots of four hybrids of corn: BRS 3003, AG 1051, Green Corn
HT-1, HT-2 Green Corn. The analysis of the benefit / cost was performed on the basis of
prices of materials and services raised in April 2007. The benefit / cost in the various
systems was held in the Excel spreadsheets, and economically viable a relationship
exceeding 1.0. It was concluded that: there is effect of hybrid and soil management on
vegetative characteristics such as plant height and the first spik and on productive
characteristics as income from pulp and grain and mass in a thousand grains of corn, and
there is no interaction between hybrid, soil management and dose of nitrogen in coverage
of the productivity of corn. The best soil management as the benefit / cost is the fallow
without any addition of nitrogen in coverage, followed by the system of conventional
tillage with 45 kg ha-1 and without the addition of nitrogen.
As
aiveca).
do milho.

A classe área supostamente
salinizada (ASS) apresentou EP e EU de 89.15% e 88.88%, respectivamente. O
As imagens analisadas
No entanto,
The irrigated perimeters implemented in the State of Paraiba are considered a costeffective
alternative quite profitable, promotes the generation of jobs and increases
the availability of food. Due to inadequate management of soil and water, that have
caused losses in soil quality of these perimeters, degrading them mainly by
salinization. Remote sensing is an alternative low-cost technology, good temporal
and frequency has the ability to map areas in process of desertification. This
research aim to identify potential areas affected by salts in the irrigated perimeter of
São Gonçalo (PISG), Sousa-PB, through remote sensing techniques. For this study
we used LANDSAT satellite images 8/OLI (average spatial resolution), 216/orbit point
65 of 07/11/2016 date; image of the Google Earth Pro software® from date of
29/02/2016 to serve as auxiliary image and photographic records of the areas on the
spot. The supervised classification technique, using the SCP (semi-automatic plugin)
in software QGIS (Quantum Gis). The measurement of the quality of the classification
took place by means of cross-validation, using statistical parameters such as the
accuracy of the producer (EP), accuracy of the user (EU), global (EG) accuracy and
Kappa index. The area class supposedly salinated (.ASS) presented EP and I of
89.15% and 88.88%, respectively. The Kappa index resulted in a value of .ASS class
0.8684 was classified as being of excellent quality. The overall quality of the
classification is assessed both by EG who presented a 0.9350 value as the Kappa
index 0.9252 valued General, being values that represent a rating of excellent
quality. The class ASS presented the largest minimum and maximum values of
reflectance factor in all the bands in the image, highlighting the band 6 0.47 values
and 0.67, respectively. The value of the area classified as being of .ASS class was
1736.75 acres, 31% of the total area of the PISG. The images reviewed discriminate
salinated areas and not allowed saline through the variations of shade and
reflectance. The images analyzed with the SCP plugin enabled the creation of a map
of supervised classification, indicating the spatial variability of the areas prone to
salinization process. However, it is recommended that the analysis of the physical
and chemical soil parameters of these areas for increased reliability in the quality of
this type of mapping.

Previous issue date: 2010 / Sugar cane is one of the crops with the highest level of water consumption, with a high evapotranspiration demand throughout most of its cycle. Knowledge of the sugar cane water demand, the time that irrigation should be applied, and how to irrigate the crop are becoming increasingly important for the sustainable development of irrigated sugar cane cultivation, especially in areas of low water availability, as it is the case in northea stern Brazil. The experiment was carried out at the Curu Experimental Field (property of the Embrapa Tropical Agroindustry), located in the Curu-Paraipaba Irrig ation Project, city of Paraipaba-CE (3 ° 29 '20''S, 39 ° 9' 45''W and elevation 30m), in order to determine the evapotrans piration and crop coefficients (Kc) of sugarcane (Saccharum L. officinarium), subsurface drip-irrigated. It was used the SP 6949 sugar cane variety, planted in a spacing of 1.8 m between double rows and 0.4 m between rows within the double row. As to t he irrigation, we used one lateral water line for each double row, buried at a depth of 0.15 m, w ith self-compensating drip emitters, with a flow rate of 1 L h-1, spaced 0.5 m on the water line. The crop was irrigated daily and there were three fertigations per week. The irrigation de pth was periodically adjusted, keeping the soil water potential between -8 kPa to -20 kPa. The crop evapotranspiration (ETc) was determined using a wei ghing lysimeter with a surface area of 2.25 m 2. The reference evapotranspiration (ETo) was estimated by the FAO Penman-Monteith method. The durations of the phenological stages of cane sugar were estimated through analysis of soil cover, with the use of digital images. Durations of 31, 49, 237 and 118 days were observed, respectively for initial, crop development, mid-season and late season stages. The yields achieved within and outside the lysimeter were respectively 144.4 and 108.8 t ha -1 . The total ETc observed during the cycle of the sugar cane was 1074.1 m m, with maximum values of 6.6 mm d-1 during the mid-season stage. Observed Kc values for initial, mid-season and late season stages were respectively 0.23, 1 .03 and 0.50. In the crop development stage, the relationship between Kc and the (crop) soil cover was represented with good accuracy by a negative quadratic model.
