This study is an analysis of the current practices pertaining to electricity as taught in industrial arts programs in the secondary schools of Texas.

In 2012 the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) revised its recommendations regarding neonatal male circumcision, transitioning from a recommendation against it to endorsing the practice. The current recommendations are based on the findings of three studies performed in Sub-Saharan Africa. In those studies, the researchers suggested that circumcision may result is reduced rates of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) transmission via heterosexual intercourse. In addition to the above studies there are several studies suggesting that circumcision can have benefits in reducing the rates of penile cancer, human papilloma virus transmission, and urinary tract infections. Based on the AAP recommendations some third-party payers have revised their policies regarding reimbursement procedures. While circumcision practices are a topic of debate in the United States, non-therapeutic circumcision is not recommended by the European Academy of Paediatrics and is not reimbursed by third-party payers. For instance, the National Health Service in Great Britain discontinued the practice of routine non-therapeutic circumcision in the mid twentieth century. This presentation will give a thorough review of the existing body of knowledge regarding the practices of non-therapeutic male infant circumcision. Existing studies regarding HIV risk reduction will be discussed in detail. At the same time, the generalizability and transferability of the above studies to the US health care system will be discussed. Finally, third-party reimbursement practices, costs associated with circumcision, and ethical issues related to this issue will be discussed.

There is limited research on music therapy for transplant recipients, yet board-certified music therapists working in medical settings often encounter individuals from the transplant population. The purpose of this study was to examine the current practices of music therapists working with bone marrow and organ transplant recipients. A total of 68 board-certified music therapists completed an online survey, providing information related to goal areas addressed in music therapy sessions and interventions frequently used with bone marrow and organ transplant patients. The most frequently reported goal areas included: coping skills, mood, and self-expression. The most frequently reported interventions included: singing, songwriting, and improvisation. Survey respondents also shared opinions related to the need for additional resources for music therapists working with transplant recipients, as well as the most rewarding and challenging aspects of working with transplant patients. Study limitations, suggestions for future research, and implications for clinical practice are included.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) use in the contracting industry has grown significantly in recent years. With this change in the construction industry, consensus has not been reached as to what BIM is, who is using it and what they are using it for. The purpose of this research was to determine current BIM practices of US-based commercial MEP contractors. Executive, middle management, and field personnel were interviewed to determine the current BIM practices in their companies. The majority of companies interviewed were using BIM and most were using it on a significant portion of their projects. The majority of MEP contractors using BIM were seeing positive results in many of six key performance indicators, profitability, schedule duration, field efficiency, change orders, rework, and safety. The top uses of BIM for MEP contractors were clash detection coordination, prefabrication, design creation, and quantity take-off/cost estimating. Most MEP contractors have not yet incorporated BIM for scheduling, sequencing, or safety analysis. Additionally most MEP contractors did not have a formal BIM training program in their company.
