Bambulová, Dana January 2010 (has links)
Objective: Following the incidental multicenter study of Endocarditis 2007 check the quality of microbiological diagnosis of infective endocarditis (IE) in the Czech Republic. Material and Methods: Prospective multicenter study of Endocarditis 2007 examined the incidence and characteristics of infective endocarditis for 12 months (February 1, 2007 to January 31, 2008) in 29 hospitals in the country. Mandates doctors sent to the Prague Centre report all cases of IE in a pre-defined catchment area of their hospitals. Was used for reporting standard form, data about patients were anonymous. There were collected 132 reports of IE. My own work consisted in re-processing and verification of data on etiology and diagnosis of IE. The basis of retrospective telephone inquiries were directed to the appropriate microbiological department, with particular emphasis on the actual number of blood cultures for individual patients, and culture findings. After comparing data with data received reports from microbiology laboratories was corrected any incorrect information. So the results were validated by the study. At the same time to assess the quality of the interpretation of microbiological findings of clinicians. Conclusion: Previous use of antibiotics reduces the probability of detection of pathogens. This relationship...

Integrace cizinců v České republice / Integration of foreigners in the Czech Republic

Pátková, Eva January 2015 (has links)
The diploma thesis Integration of Foreigners in the Czech Republic deals with the social integration of immigrants into Czech society with respect to structural, cultural, interactive and identifying dimensions. These are the crucial factors influencing their stay in the Czech Rebublic. The empirical part concerns perception of Czech reality through the eyes of selected foreigners from different countries living in the Czech Republic. Their findings are collected by qualitative research. During the interview, they provided detailed information about their stay in the Czech Republic and thus revealed issues which they deal with in the host country. It came out that a significant aspect of integration is not only the similarity of cultures but also foreigners' subjective feeling of integration.

Czech labour market for foreigners and the situation of Vietnamese employees

Nguyen, Anh Dung January 2011 (has links)
Most of the European countries are now facing the common challenge from aging population. This affects the labour market and consecutively the economic engine. As a matter of course the Czech Republic has to welcome workers from outside sources to supplement its labour shortage. I've found that the majority of the migrant workers going to the Czech Republic are low skill ones and they concentrate in the lower tier of the labour market. The efforts of the Government to attract high skill workers have not been much successful in bringing more qualified foreigners to the country. The Vietnamese is the third largest migrant community in the Czech Republic with 60.301 registered people. For those who came here in the 70s and 80s, they have been legally and pretty successfully residing in the society. But for the new workers who were sent to work in Czech factories since 2006, the global crisis turned their lives into hardship. They lost jobs but they couldn't or didn't want to go home. They must hold on in this land with a hope to change their lives.

Kouření - dopad na státní rozpočet a jeho spravedlivé zdanění / Smoking - impact on the state budget and its fair taxation

Hait, Pavel January 2011 (has links)
The paper addresses the impact of smoking in the Czech Republic in 2009. The aim is to describe the current facts and trends of tobacco consumption, assess the mortality attributable to smoking, compute its financial impact on the Czech state budget, evaluate the transmission of tax changes into the retail price of cigarettes, assess consumer price elasticity for cigarettes, and compute a fair excise tax on cigarettes for the Czech Republic as well as the tax which would maximise the benefits of smoking for the state budget. For our purposes, we define fairness as a situation in which there is no net redistribution of state budget funds between two groups of citizens: non-smokers and smokers. Smokers create benefits (for example, savings on pensions due to their earlier deaths) and costs (for instance, increased health care costs) for the state budget. We search for a tax rate that would balance smoking-associated costs and benefits. Furthermore, we also compute the tax which would maximise net revenues from smoking to the government. We realised these findings for the Czech Republic, 2009: we observed that there were 22,013 deaths attributable to smoking. About 2.281 billion cigarettes were sold illegally. The costs to the state budget caused by smoking were estimated to 30,547 million CZK,...

Setting the Tone: A Newspaper Analysis on Canada’s Decision to Impose a Visa Requirement on the Czech Republic

Adatia, Rishma January 2012 (has links)
This thesis examines Canada’s imposition of a visa requirement on visitors from the Czech Republic. By analyzing articles in three major Canadian newspapers, I conduct an Althusserian (theory that “culture ventures” are part of the Ideological State Apparatus), analysis. The thesis demonstrates that a dominant ideological viewpoint – a pro-capitalist ideology supported by a racist ideology – was evident in the coverage in all three newspapers. Additionally, this thesis addresses the presence of more ‘even-handed’ discussions of the conditions of the Roma, including experiences of racism and discrimination in the Czech Republic. I conclude that the newspapers present ideological views, with occasional exceptions.

Kuncl, Martin January 2008 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to analyse external economic stability of the Czech Republic. The external economic stability is defined and basic theory related to especially intertemporal approach to external balances is reviewed. Special consideration is given to the transition character of the economy. The descriptive as well as econometric analysis (VAR and cointegration models) find that the Czech Republic is not dangerously imbalanced. A potential threat is found to be reresented by government budget deficits due to the problem of twin deficits.

Bariéry aplikace PPP projektů v České republice / Barriers that inhibit application of PPP projects in Czech Republic

Horňáková, Lenka January 2008 (has links)
Main subject of this work characterisation of PPP projects and barriers that inhibit application of PPP projects in Czech Republic. First there are characterised main concepts as public sector and his mission in providing public goods and services. Attention is also paid to characterization of PPP projects and to the differences between providing public goods and services through PPP scheme or by traditional way. Afterwards there is described the whole process of preparation and implementation of a PPP project including the key moments, that can't be ignored. If ignored, it could cause incorrigible faults in the implementation phase. This work also includes analysis of interviews made with a view to find out, how are Czech citizens informed about PPP projects. The produces of this work serve as basis for setting strategy and policy, which should be observed. Otherwise there is a risk that the project won't be finished successfully with positive public evaluation.
