Mrázková, Miriam January 2016 (has links)
This thesis examines the integration of adolescents of Vietnamese origin in the Ústí nad Labem region. For my research I chose a region with high unemployment, in which there are large Vietnamese and Roma minorities. The aim of the research is to establish how the Vietnamese young people are integrated alongside the Roma youth in the region, to get to know these two different minorities, to assess, on the basis of a comparison, the degree of integration of the Vietnamese youth, and to determine what impact the aggravating factors in the place where they live has on these adolescents. The general part of the thesis deals with the arrival of the Vietnamese minority in the Czech Republic in the past and the present, and with the coexistence of this minority with the original inhabitants in our country and the neighbouring countries of Central Europe. It presents the organisations that help this specific group and other supportive networks that newcomers to the Czech Republic can make use of. A further section is devoted to the Roma minority in the Ústí nad Labem region. It thus compares two different types of integration of minorities. The practical part examines the opinions of the adolescents themselves. I investigated how these young people view the fact that they are different, what they know...

Balha, Alan January 2017 (has links)
The thesis is focused on the political participation of university students in the Czech Republic. This topic has not been studied there yet. The aim of the research is to find out whether university students in the Czech Republic participate in politics. To this attitude we want to find the reasons and motivation and the forms in which the participation takes place. We also want to determine how students perceive themselves from a socioeconomic point of view, on a left-right scale, or with which ideology, political party or regime they identify. Taking into account the long-term trend of TOP 09 support among youth and especially students, we will try to get a more detailed characterization of this group of citizens. The data are obtained from 365 questionnaires structured into several thematic units at micro, meso and macro levels that correspond to the expected impact on political participation. We also deal with the relationship of students to the regime, the openness of the system to participation and its forms, internal efficiency. The analysis showed that 95 % of the students participate in politics. The most used forms are election attendance, petition signature and participation in group action. The most common reasons and motivations are interest in the surroundings, civic duty or the...

Účinky sekuritizace migrace: případ Slovenské a České republiky / The Effects of Securitising Migration: The Case of Slovakia and the Czech Republic

Bandurová, Jana January 2018 (has links)
The Master's thesis called "The Effects of Securitising Migration: The case of Slovakia and the Czech Republic" aims to analyse the extent to which is migration constructed as a security threat in crucial conceptual and strategic documents regarding migration, drafted by the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic and the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic. Given that the Ministry of Interior is a key player in the field of migration in both countries setting the direction of migration policy on conceptual, legislative and implementation level, it enters a discursive field of migration by offering its own understanding of migration, which has a great impact on the policymaking in the area of migration, migration practice and consequently on the life of migrants. Despite the fact that both Slovakia and the Czech Republic have one of the lowest shares of foreigners within population in the whole European Union as well as neither of the two countries have been the final destinations of migrants during the so called refugee crisis, we can identify the dominant role of security discourse in both countries. To get a better insight into a wider social context, the thesis also builds on the number of "texts and talks" dealing with the issue of migration beside the official policy documents and...

Rozvojová pomoc a potřeba strategie odchodu: Případ České republiky a Srbska / Development aid and the need for exit strategies: Case of the Czech Republic and Serbia

Leškovská, Ludmila January 2019 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to provide a deeper understanding of exit strategies within the development studies and the development community. The exit of financial aid by donors from developing countries have large effects on the recipients. Modern donors are facing the challenge of how to effectively exit a partner country without affecting the sustainability of their intervention, their relationship with the partner and the economic and social impact on the beneficiaries. For this purpose, modern donors establish exit strategies to guide their processes. Czech Republic as a new modern donor is aiming to increase its effectivity of development cooperation. However, when exiting partner countries such as Serbia, it does not follow an exit strategy. This thesis tries to analyse how the process of exit of the Czech Republic can be used to argue for the need of exit strategies, and what lessons can be learned from past exits.

Umění (ne)přesnosti: Meta-analýza předpovědí Think-tanku Evropské hodnoty / The Art of (In)Accuracy: A Meta-Analysis of the European Values Think-Tank's Forecasts

Štěpánek, Matěj January 2019 (has links)
Probabilistic forecasts represent a potentially indispensable tool for policy advising, strategic planning, or provision of possible scenarios of future development. It is clear, however, that inaccurate forecasts can entail serious consequences. At best, unsuccessful forecasting attempts may discredit such potentially valuable method in the eyes of decision-making elites. At worst, wrong predictions may lead to the misallocation of scarce resources or to the unnecessary securitization. Nonetheless, probabilistic forecasts have seldom been used in the realm of the Czech security analyses, studies, or debates. Thus, the European Values Think- Tank's research project is a pioneering attempt to utilize the probabilistic forecasting in the Czech politico-security sphere. Due to the fact that the think-tank developed its probabilistic forecasts to help the Czech security elite with strategic planning, the thesis aims to verify the accuracy and predictive capabilities of the European Values. The broader goal is to bring, by the accuracy assessment, the rigor into the Czech probabilistic-forecasting debate. Additionally, the thesis also compares the predictive capabilities of the European Values with the alternative - foreign - forecasts, as well as with other means of accuracy verification. The results...
