O dente New Ace não apresentou alteração significativa com os tratamentos, sendo mais estável quando submetido aos processos de desinfecção / Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of disinfectant solutions of 2% glutaraldehyde and 1% sodium hypoclorite and microwave disinfection in Knoop hardness values of five brands of acrylic resin denture teeth Trilux (Ruthinium), Biocler (Pirassununga), Biotone (Dentsply), New Ace (Yamahachi) e Magister (Heraeus-Kulzer). One hundred specimens were produced using central and lateral lower acrylic denture teeth of the five brands selected which were individually positioned within tubes with heat-polymerized acrylic resin (Vip Wave), with buccal aspect exposed. Five specimens of each brand were submitted to each method of disinfection. The chemical method was made leaving the specimens immersed in the solutions for 10 minutes at room temperature and then rinsed with running water for 30 seconds. The microwave disinfection was realized in a microwave oven (Eletrolux; Amazonia Ltd., Manaus, AM), at 650 W for 3 minutes with the specimens individually immersed in 150 ml of distilled water. Knoop hardness test was performed using HMV- 2 (Shimadzu) with a 50g load for 15 seconds in three different moments: 1- before sterilization procedure, 2- sterilization procedure performed once and 3- sterilization procedure performed twice. The indentations were made in each specimen. Data were submitted to analysis of variance and Tukey's test at 5% of significance level. According to the results, no significant differences were found between materials and immersed solutions. However, a decrease in hardness was noticed after three simulated microwave disinfection was noticed in Magister brand teeth. New Ace showed the best hardness values after disinfection procedures / Mestrado / Protese Dental / Mestre em Clínica Odontológica
