Remix is the use and accumulation of layers from different origins, analog and digital, through actions resulting from collages, borrowings, appropriations or quotations, used in favor of a new imagetic design simulation levels challenges your agent’s imagination. The objective of this work is to investigate some cre- ation processes and their relevance to the results promoted by the hybridization and remixes of graphic fragments in the construction of new digital images, and for these analyzes were chosen some posters with singular languages in their visual configurations. The concept of remix in the field of graphic design and its languages was elaborated from the contribution of authors such as Bruno Munari, Donis A. Dondis and Rudolf Arnhein who bring us approaches on the elements of language and visual perception; Eduardo Navas, Lawrence Lessig and Kirby Ferguson collaborate with remix con- cepts; Levi Manovich with researches related to the aesthetics of remixability; Lucia Santaella and Jacques Aumont with studies on the cognitive image; Philip Meggs and Rafael Cardoso who contrib- ute with surveys on the history of graphic design; and Rick Poynor who brings us concepts of postmodern graphic design, among oth- ers that reinforce the theoretical scope during the investigation. Concepts and references are also brought from the universe of music, analog collage, language through technological aesthetics, and addressed in some graphic design productions, especially in the third and last part, composed by a case study on the design of the Brazilian designer Rico Lins in the visual configuration of the piece of publicity of the exhibition Brasil em Cartaz, event that took place in France in 2005. In short, it is concluded that remix is an important compositional action that intensifies the creative process and the imagination.

Collage Is Alive and Kicking!

Soudková, Kateřina Unknown Date (has links)
The output of my studio thesis – redesign of a book called Zůstaňte s námi by Marek Šindelka, follows to the theoretical section titled Collage in contemporary Czech illustration and brings up the know-how of said issue. This fictional redesigned story book by contemporary Czech author deals with the current possibilities of the collage technique, its practical application in the field of graphic design and strives for its reconnection with modern Czech books.

Living lens: exploring interdependencies between performing bodies, visual and sonic media in immersive installation

Verdaasdonk, Maria Adriana January 2007 (has links)
Living Lens is a practice-led study that explores interdependencies between performing bodies, visual images and sonic elements through two main areas of investigation: the propensity for the visual mode to be dominant in an interdisciplinary performance environment; and, a compositional structure to integrate performing bodies, visual and sonic elements. To address these concerns, the study necessitated a collaborative team comprising performers, visual artists, sound designers and computer programmers. The poetic title, Living Lens, became an important interpretative device and organising principle in this study, which is weighted 70% for the creative work and 30% for the written component. Working from an experiential and emergent methodology, the research employed two iterative cycles of development. Drawing on a previous work, Patchwork in Motion (2005), the extraction of one fragment entitled Living Lens (2005-6) was selected for further development, specifically to balance the relationship between performers and visual media with a deeper focus on the sonic component. The initial creative development (June-July 2005) addressed the area of interdependencies through the concepts of "poetic felt space" and "living painting", whilst the final stage of the study (June-July 2006) adopted the concept of "worlds within worlds" to facilitate greater contrast and connectivity in the piece. The final performance made partial progress towards shifting visual dominance and the development of an integrative structure, the digital media serving to enhance tangible connections between aural, visual and kinesthetic senses. As an immersive performance installation, the study thus adapts and extends painterly and sculptural sensibilities into a contemporary and interactive arts setting. Presenting a case for the personalised position of the practitioner voice, the study also offers practical and conceptual insights and solutions, to be adopted, adapted or applied tangentially, by other practitioners and researchers working in the domains of body movement practices, visual and sonic arts and human communication technologies.

Koláž a její vývojové peripetie s přesahy k netradičním výrazovým prostředkům a výtvarným technikám / Collage and its development peripeties with in connection to nontraditional means of expression and artistic techniques

Marxová, Lenka January 2018 (has links)
The topic of this diploma thesis is the development and transformation of a collage which overlaps to non-traditional expression means and art techniques. The theoretical part deals with the change of a collage and its peripetials. It presents reflections on what still can be considered a collage, not only in terms of techniques with collages closely related (eg, assemblages, de-collage), but mainly in terms of the individual principles that allow to grasp collage as a concept and to observe it in various domains. The issue of a collage, examined in the theoretical part, is transformed into a thematic serie, which is presented in the form of didactic structures that were implemented in school practice and reflected by the teachers. The artistic part depicts an author's project using one of the presented collage principles - joining of individual components into the resulting whole. The project, among other things, deals with the question of whether it is possible to construct an identity of a certain place using visual records of different participants separate pages of the book. Key words: collage, assemblage, de-collage, montage, crumple technique, technique of stratification, cumulation, art object, installation, concept, body art, digital collage, net art, art education
