The diploma thesis will devote to the progress of the phenomenon of the liberty in the modern period from Spinoza to Lévinas. The diploma thesis is mainly based on the major publications of philosophers, B. Spinoza, I. Kant, K. Jaspers, J.-P. Sartre, E. Levinas. The thesis focuses in the terms responsibility and liberty which assume different and more profound meaning in their philosophy. Baruch Spinoza connects the liberty with the independence, with the causal independece. The independent thing is the thing which is the source of own action. In this meaning we can say that only God is independent. Immanuel Kant presented the new dimension of the liberty in ethics which extended the solution of the etical philosophy. The person is the being who constructs the moral word from own liberty and accountable to himself or herself and the other people. Emphasis is placed on Karl Jaspers' major publication The Question of German Guilt. This research strives to illuminate the concept of "Christian values" and it points out the possible connection between this term and the ethics of values. At the beginning is introduced a reflection on the "Christian values" from both philosophical and theological point of view, then we try to find a connection between the Christian values and the ethics of values. The paper is methodologically structured in several subsequent steps. The first one is the reflection on the concept of "value" in the philosophy of values (20th century). the emphasis is put on the connection between the term "value" and the term "good", because we work on the assumption that there is some non-specific relationship between the good and the values. The following step is a theological elaborate of the term "value" that proceeds from a biblical examination, during which we concentrate non only on the term itself but also on the question if the value-focused thinking in the Scripture has a specific implicit form. Thereafter we examine the term of "value" from the systematic-theology point of view. At first we try to look into the values as an expression of the Divine perfection, then we move on to the moral-theological view, where we present the Christian interpretation of values. With this theological examination we lay the foundations for the determination of "Christian values". In the final part of the paper we present the connection between values and the ethics of values. We examine in detail the definition of the ethics of values itself, consequently we talk about the role of values in the ethics of values as well as the theological development of this doctrine. We can conclude that a satisfactory and widely accepted definition of values does not exist, which is why we also examined the term of "good" in order to find the differences between the two terms. We came to the conclusion that the difference is not convincingly explained by the ethics of values. In the theological reflection of the term "value" we tried to find a biblical foundation for values. The language analysis of the biblical texts showed that the term of values is not very frequent in the Bible and less it is in the contemporary understanding of the texts. However, deeper examination of individual texts of the New Testament showed that value-oriented statements can be found relatively often in the Bible. These statements concern the highest value, as well as the hierarchy of natural and supernatural values, etc. The next step of the theological reflection showed, that in the christian understanding, God is the source of all good/values. He is the originator and the aim of all that is and al that comes from him is good. The ethics of virtues is interesting because it differs from another normative ethics by its theological thinking. It focuses on human action from the point of view of the ultimate goal of human life. It is also associated with natural law. Indeed, each of the cardinal virtues is based on some of the basic benefits of human nature. Cultivating the virtues in life leads one to the goal of life, whether it is a naturally successful life or, in the Christian concept, eternal life, that is, communion with God. In the final step, let's take a look at the very notion of "Christian values." First of all, an inclusive concept is possible, which is based on the fact that God is the originator of all that is good, and therefore all goodness can be understood as good Christian. But then there is no difference between good and Christian good. Perhaps only in the perspective of the person who evaluates this good. Secondly, the concept of exclusive is also possible, with Christian values being what is specifically Christian, that is, what has its foundation in Revelation. In other words, it is the good / value that we would not know if it were not for Christianity.

A b s t r a c t The present thesis proceeds in its exposition of the initial assertion of the unity of beauty and goodness in Plotinus' philosophy. The thesis puts forward the question of the source and definition of the intuitive and philosophical persuasiveness of such a unity, and its ontological foundation in the philosophy of Plotinus. The thesis' intention is to clarify how the abovemen- tioned unity may be thought of, what is its nature, wherein lays its foundation. The foremost aim of this work is exploration, and potentially resolution, of the following aporia, which, as I hope, is not trivial and may shed new light upon Plotinus' metaphysics, especially his under- standing of the relationshipofbeautyandgoodness:inwhatsensearebeautyandgoodnessinunity (what is the principle of such a unity and its foundation), inwhichsensearetheymutuallydistinct (what is the nature of such a distinction)? Krize v Ústavu pro studium totalitních režimů v českém periodickém tisku / Crisis in the institute for the study of totalitarian regimes in czech periodic pressSvorník, Petr January 2016 (has links)
The main aim of this thesis is to prove that the style of news coverage of one topic in three different Czech newspapers differs significantly, based on ideology of authors and newspapers too. News reporting should be informative, unbiased, without assessments of its author. However the resulting article is always biased in some way. The author doesn't have to use evaluating words to evaluate; he or she can affect the result by choosing right speakers, placing them in favorable or disadvantageous position or even cut them out of the text. The author can choose which story to tell and which frame to use. This thesis focuses on crisis in the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes in April of 2013, when the director Daniel Herman was dismissed and new director Pavla Foglová was appointed. This event is suitable for the study of (hidden) evaluation and ideology, because it is closely connected with communist history of Czech nation - everyone has some opinion about it, journalists included. After the theoretical explanation of main terms and concepts like signification, discourse and ideology comes the analysis of three non-tabloid Czech newspapers: Lidové noviny, Mladá fronta DNES and Právo. Their story is the main subject of this thesis.

Syftet med detta arbete har varit att undersöka hur musiker inom den afroamerikanska musiktraditionen ser på sitt musikaliska lärande. Deltagarna har haft olika musikaliska bakgrunder så som låtskrivare, frilansmusiker och instrumentallärare. Undersökningen tar sin teoretiska utgångspunkt ur ett kulturpsykologsikt perspektiv där synen på lärande ses som en process som utvecklas mellan individer i en lokalt rådande kultur. Informanterna har i undersökning fått prova att spela lap steel och dobro i fyra olika stämningar som därefter avslutats med en intervju. Vid dessa tillfällen har deltagarna reflekterat och delat med sig av sina åsikter och erfarenheter som berör deras musikaliska lärande.Resultatet av undersökningen pressenteras i tre kategorier som jag i detta arbete kallar för, det speltekniska perspektivet, gehöret och det visuella lärandet samt det musikaliska uttrycket. Dessa tre kategorier återspeglar vilka parametrar informanterna intagit och redogjort för när de reflekterat över sitt musikaliska lärande. Undersökning visar i detta på en nyansrikedom som berör musikaliskt lärande där både likheter och olikheter bland de medverkande informanterna redovisas.

The present thesis deals with the question of goodness in ethical thinking of Plato and Aristotle. The work aims to answer two research questions: How did Plato and Aristotle perceive the essence of goodness in human life? What are we supposed to do in order to accomplish human well-being? The first chapter contains a brief summary of ethical ideas of both philosophers. In the following chapters their concepts of areté, soul and goodness are analysed and compared. The comparison supports the fact that both Plato and Aristotle basically agreed on the essence of human goodness. They consider it the sole criterion of human well-being, both of them connect it with moral values and argue that it can be only achived through life in accordance with the virtues. On the other hand, Plato and Aristotle differ from each other in the way how can be such human goodness and well-being achieved. Aristotle's views based on the ethical issues, however, can not be perceived as totally different from those of Plato, but rather as a further elaboration and supplement of his ideas and opinions.

The dissertation work focuses on leisure time as an important aspect of seeking higher values like beauty, goodness and the importance of meaning of life at the beginning of the 21st century. The aim of this diploma thesis is to find out whether young people of ages between 20 and 30 are able to perceive the values of beauty, goodness and the meaning of life in their free time. The thesis is divided into six chapters. The first chapter defines the concept of leisure time and describes a brief history of leisure time. The second chapter deals with pedagogical trends based on existentialism and philosophy of education in relation to values. The third chapter classifies the values and expounds three specific values, which are essential for this work the beauty, the goodness and the importance of meaning of life. The fourth chapter describes the Czech society at the beginning of the 21st century with a focus on the values gained in the family and the society. The sixth chapter contains qualitative research, using a questionnaire with open questions that I then analyse and evaluate.

Its intention is to present ethics not only as a doctrine of the values and rules of human coexistence, but above all as an essential questioning that brings one to spiritual depth as a true philosophy. It does not approach to the topic by analyzing the work of one or a few relevant authors, but it is guided by the topic itself and the context in which ethics appears. The inspiration here is Heidegger's understanding of the world as the so-called Foursome, in which man, as Mortal, relates to the Earth, the Heavens, and the Divine. As Heidegger explains that man relates poetry to the depths of the world, this dissertation attempts to explain that ethical relation to the world is also something essential for man. The theme of the thesis is to look into the conflict of good and evil in the work of Tolkien The Silmarillion from a Biblical perspective. The text of Silmarillion itself is mainly used for identification of themes related to the central one. These themes are further analysed to reveal their origin, namely whether they came from the biblical tradition or some other tradition. The first part is devoted to the Silmarillion itself and provides a brief summary to remind reader of the basic plot line and motifs. The second part addresses the issue of good and evil from a cosmic perspective and its definition. This section also identifies the general principles of this combat taking into account its particular realisations and allows reader to determine the influence of Christianity, Norse mythology, and other sources on Tolkien's work. The third part deals with the conflict between good and evil in relation to particular persons or groups of persons, and describes the way people surrender to the evil and how they can resist it.
