U Shop大學商城 / U Shop: Coffee and NCCU Gift shop

周少偉, Jitkusolrungrueng, Nitichai Unknown Date (has links)
Most universities have their own gift shop to represent the pride of the students who love university brand’s products. Some universities have created innovation gift shops with special features to differentiate themselves from ordinary traditional gift shops in order to promote their gifts and create university brand awareness. For example, Waseda University’s Co-Op stores that operates as the university’s gift shop is a combination between gift shop and coffee shop where Waseda students can come right in, order a cup of coffee and spend time to mingle with their peers. There is no doubt that when Waseda students are walking into the coffee shop, they will have a chance to see, and even be tempted to purchase, their university’s gifts and souvenirs. In Taiwan, we can say that National Cheng Chi University (NCCU) is one of the biggest and most famous universities in Taiwan. However, as of today NCCU gift shop is still operated under the name of Alumni service center, which is hardly capable of managing full operation to support sale and promotion of NCCU gifts and souvenirs. According to the survey conducted at NCCU, approximately 40 per cent of the sample group does not know where to buy gifts and souvenirs. Half of the group states that they are not planning go there. However, good news is that 80 per cent still wants to purchase NCCU gifts and souvenirs. All this information indicates that the demand for gifts and souvenirs is still high but NCCU still lacks a marketing initiative, clearly-identified sale channels and a suitable business model to support university gift shop. This new NCCU gift and coffee shop will beautifully offer a relaxing and serene space for both local and foreign NCCU students to do their studies, to meet with their friends or to exchange their worldviews, languages and cultures. This possible channel will also drive the number of students purchasing NCCU gifts and souvenirs. In addition, the new attraction will bring economic benefits to established stores. Creating a new sale channel and promoting products are primary keys to a successful business model, as it will guarantee long-term accomplishment of the NCCU gift shop and the sustainability of the model.

A comparative study of the transaction costs of doing business in formal urban vs informal settlement areas: a case study of microenterprises in Joe Slovo and Maitland, Western Cape, South Africa

Mahamed, Mahamed Rage January 2014 (has links)
Magister Economicae - MEcon / The main objective of this research was to measure and compare the influence of institutions (government laws, rules, regulations) on the transaction cost of establishing microenterprises in informal/township areas and suburbs. The research target area was Maitland (a suburb) and Joe Slovo (a township area). A research framework was developed using the theories of institutions and the TACE. In order to achieve the research objectives, both quantitative and qualitative research designs were used. A total research sample of 40 microenterprise owners were selected from these two areas. A random sampling technique was used to select half (twenty) microenterprise traders in Maitland and the other half (twenty) from Joe Slovo. The research also applied non-random sampling technique to select relevant government institutions that regulate microenterprises in these two areas. The research has collected both primary and secondary data. To collect the primary data, face-to-face interviews were held with the shop owners in the two research sites and government (City) officials. A questionnaire containing both open-ended and closed-ended questions was used in collecting the primary data. The secondary data was collected using desktop (internet) search and also physically searching government archives and publications. Descriptive statistics (frequency distributions and graphical representations) of the data were used to analyze and compare the data collected in a meaningful way. The research also used non-parametric independent samples t-test to compare the differences of the transaction costs of establishing microenterprises in Joe Slovo and in Maitland. The data collected was analyzed and compared using SPSS statistical research analysis software. The results show, to establish a microenterprise business, microenterprise owners in both formal and informal areas need to comply with the environmental health laws. In addition to complying with the environmental health laws, microenterprises in formal areas are obliged to comply with the City zoning scheme and seek permission to establish businesses in these areas. The application process for seeking the City zoning approval is cumbersome and subjective. The results show that entrepreneurs in informal/township areas are automatically allowed by the local government to establish microenterprises in these areas and need not comply with the Zoning Scheme. The main findings of the study reveal that microenterprises in formal suburbs face higher TACs in establishing businesses in these areas when compared to those in township areas.

Revisiting shop stewards and workplace bargaining : opportunities, resources and dynamics in two case studies

Joyce, Simon Charles January 2016 (has links)
Recent accounts of workplace union representation have emphasised the exclusion of shop stewards from management decision-making processes, and have posited a shift in shop steward activity away from dealing with collective issues through bargaining, towards dealing with individual issues through casework, as part of the wider decline of union influence. This thesis challenges those accounts by showing that they utilise a problematic conceptual framework and rest upon questionable empirical foundations. An alternative framework is proposed which incorporates a clearly conceptualised definition of bargaining - something missing from previous accounts - and which develops and synthesises conceptual elements from Marxist-influenced sociologies of work, bargaining theory, and industrial relations scholarship. It is shown that efforts to influence management decision making and to restrict managerial prerogatives continue to figure prominently in shop steward activity, even though the reduction of union influence is undeniable and formal arrangements for union-management relations have been recast. Moreover, these efforts are often to some extent successful. This analysis is supported by considerable evidence from two detailed workplace studies, including an innovative use of diaries, which contribute important new insights into the activity of contemporary shop stewards. This thesis argues that the persistence of shop steward bargaining is best understood in relation to underlying dynamics of conflict and exploitation within the employment relationship under capitalism. Bargaining processes are explored in terms of changing patterns of bargaining opportunities and bargaining resources, which are linked to changing management practices. While the form and location of bargaining processes have changed, the prevalence of issues around the effort bargain and frontier of control demonstrate the continuing influence of the dynamics of workplace relations on patterns of shop steward activity. While further research is required, the theoretical and conceptual framework developed in this thesis suggests that similar processes are likely to be found elsewhere.

Prejzková, Helena January 2008 (has links)

Among its other aims belong the illustration of these factors in practice to existing shop and also make up a kind of manual for the creation of e-shop, which will give the customer the feeling of the biggest trust. The study is divided into three parts. The first of them is theoretical and describes the results of foreign studies that have been made in connection with the trust on the Internet. In the second part is outlined a brief look at home market, Czech, through available documents and a questionnaire investigation. And the last part is practical. Part of it is a look at particular factors of trust in the existing e-shop and a procedure for creating a new e-commerce with the use of gained knowledge.
