Specifika ochrany hospodářské soutěže EU v oblasti energetiky / Specificity of the protection of economic competition in the EU in the field of energy industry

Adamčíková, Leona January 2015 (has links)
This Master's Thesis deals with the EU competition law enforcement towards undertakings in the energy industry. The attention of the thesis is devoted only to the part of the energy industry, gas and electricity sectors, as the EU decided to liberalize these markets in the mid-1990s with the aim of gradually transform them into the single European energy market, which will be fully open to the competition. The aim of the thesis is to answer research question, what the specifics of the EU competition law enforcement towards undertakings in the energy industry are. The first chapter deals with the fundamental competition law rules, which are analysed in the thesis within the energy industry. These are prohibition of the agreements which have as their object or effect the restriction of competition (regulated in the Art. 101 TFEU) and prohibition of the abuse of dominant position (regulated in the Art. 102 TFEU). Besides these rules, which are enforced ex post, the chapter also deals with the control of merger of undertakings by the Commission as an ex ant competition law enforcement towards notified mergers. The chapter further looks at the main objectives of the competition law and the means the Commission has at its disposal to competition law enforcement. The second chapter briefly describes the...

Energetické právo České republiky / Energy Law of the Czech republic

Blahoudková, Gabriela January 2020 (has links)
Energy law of the Czech Republic Abstract The diploma thesis is devoted to the Energy law of the Czech Republic and its main purpose is to analyse the regulation of enterprise in the energy sectors under public law. The thesis concentrates mostly on the regulation under the Energy act, but it also reflects relevant regulation contained in other statutes, regulations, European Union legislation or international agreements. The thesis also reflects the consequences of the stated regulation for the enterprises performing business activities in the energy sector. For this purpose, the thesis distinguishes between various entities operating on the market with (i) electricity, (ii) gas and (iii) heating. Besides it also defines what preconditions individual subjects must meet to perform the activities in energy sector and what obligations the energy law imposes on them. In this context the thesis concentrates on the instruments of legal regulation used in this field, especially the licence, the certificate of independence and the state authorization for the construction of the power stations or some gas facilities. Moreover, the thesis compares stated legal tools with legal tools used abroad; in particular with legal tools used in the Slovak Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany that were chosen because of...

Kincl, Karel January 2010 (has links)
The aim of my Master Thesis is to provide the reader a holistic picture about the current situation on the renewable energy market, specifically in the area of biomass energy. Firstly, the complex research, which had been conducted by the European Union, Czech government and individual research groups, was examined to make a comprehensive overview about the Czech energy mix of renewable sources. Secondly, the biomass energy fundamentals were elaborated in more details to provide the reader solid insights into the biomass origins, methods of energy conversion as well as its current market circumstances. Next, the financing structure of biomass energy projects together with SWOT analysis on biomass was conducted based on the personal work experience from the Department of Renewable Energy Financing at xxxxxxxxxx bank and the available analytical materials. Consequently, the recommendations for potential biomass investors were concisely described together with the market prediction and possible outlook that was suggested based on the previous analysis.

Komparace současných trendů ve výrobě elektrické energie / Comparative study of current trends in electricity production

TALACH, Petr January 2019 (has links)
The theoretical part of the diploma thesis describes a general summary of information about individual power plants that are part of the South Bohemian region. For completeness, the work is complemented by missing representatives not included in the South Bohemian region, power plants from other parts of the Czech Republic. The next part of the work is dedicated to specific representatives, their description and closer presentation, which are connected to the context of the original theoretical part. The following part of the work deals with the comparison of specific data and together with the theoretical part the work is also suitable for teaching and consolidating the knowledge of the Czech energy sector. In the last part of the work you can find a list of possible excursions to several South Bohemian power plants. These excursions can be used as part of school trips at all levels of education.

Risk Analysis and Pricing of Retail Energy Contracts / Analýza rizik a oceňování energetických retailových kontraktů

Hron, Jiří January 2007 (has links)
The presented dissertation is focused on the applications of statistical methods and ap-proaches applied in the energy business. The need for the modeling of energy risks arose only recently when the energy business was opened to competition. Therefore, the prima-ry aim of the dissertation is to clarify the main principles of the energy business which are necessary for understanding both risk principles and motivation of the proposed models. I am largely focused on retail risks, i.e., the risks associated with delivery to end-consumers. In particular, I deal with energy contracts providing volume flexibility, recalled as swing options in the literature. Therefore, the second issue on which I am focusing is a group of demand-driven swing options whose more systematic analysis in the portfolio context has not been published so far. Examining the risk, I apply the deductive (probabil-istic) analysis which reveals interesting relations between correlations. The practical ap-plications also require inductive considerations resulting in the construction of statistical estimators relying on historical data. I propose an estimator of the volumetric correlation based on a classical theory whose bias is investigated via MC simulation. To analyze a par-ticular volume-price correlation, I introduced the notion of robust dependency. Applying bootstrap procedures, robust dependency can be used both for testing purposes and for sensitivity analysis of the sample correlation. There are many works available devoted to energy price models which are different from the price models applied on financial markets. Therefore, the third target of the dis-sertation is an empirical statistical analysis of both power and natural gas Czech spot pric-es which can serve as a basis for the development of price models adapted to the Czech market environment. Finally, the fourth aim is the evaluation of power contracts which is very specific. The outputs of the model are both a synthetic market price and a hedging strategy. The model is designed to provide flexibility in practical applications.

Význam Ázerbajdžánu a Gruzie v nové energetické geopolitice / The Relevance of Azerbaijan and Georgia in New Energy Geopolitics

Dvořáková, Tereza January 2015 (has links)
The submitted thesis called "The Relevance of Azerbaijan and Georgia in New Energy Geopolitics" deals with the topic of perception of energy security from the perspective of the European Union with special emphasis put on two southern Caucasian countries - Azerbaijan and Georgia. The purpose of this thesis is to analyse the topic by means of the constructivist approach. The theoretical framework is based on the redefined theory of securitization. The methodological basis is represented by the discursive analysis of the official documents issued by the European Union, embedded in the context of European Neighbourhood Policy and the Eastern Partnership initiative respectively whilst taking into consideration the external influence of the Russian Federation in the time period of approximately ten years, i.e. from 2003, when the European Neighbourhood was established, up to the present. The main objective of the submitted thesis is to assess the perception of energy security from the point of view of the European Union and to identify key contextual links and discursive themes that dominated the political discourse of the European Union in particular moments of the respective period.

Strategicko ekonometrická analýza společnosti ČEZ Energetické produkty, s.r.o. / Strategic & econometric analysis of ČEZ Energetické produkty Ltd.

Köhler, Jiří January 2014 (has links)
With the development of modern technology the perception of waste is changing. What was once considered unusable and expensive can be now seen as an useful material with potential to increase revenues of the company. As example can serve energetic industry, which was until recently only able to store its waste produced during combustion of coal. Now energetic companies are able to transform their waste into secondary energetic products (by-products) that can be further used in other industries. The main goal of the thesis is to determine whether there is a potential for the development of the secondary energetic products in the Czech Republic.

Model větrné elektrárny pro výzkumné a laboratorní využití / Wind Turbine Model for Research and Laboratory Applications

Števček, Tomáš January 2015 (has links)
A major portion of this thesis is devoted to the Whisper 200 wind turbine model in Matlab-Simulink environment. The turbine is installed at the Department of Electrical Power Engineering, FEEC BUT. In the model, several types of simulations can be executed. On that basis, the power curve and mathematical relationships between wind speed and other physical quantities, such as RPM, electic current, and voltage, were obtained. Comparisons of the simulations' results with measurement data illustrate adequate agreement, but limitations of the model remain significant, as is exhaustively documented and commented upon in the thesis. As a partial advancement towards elimination of the model's deficiencies, conditions for substantial performance improvements of the dynamic simulation have been elaborately derived.
